2006 and early 2007 are the years to own with the Duramax it seems. Has the newer injector design so they are easier to replace. Correct on it being past the overheating problem while towing. Has the 6 speed Allison tranny. Don't plan on tuning it, going to keep it stock. Dodge is tempting but I have always been a Chevy fan.

Looks pretty clean. I'm a little more cautious about buying a diesel from a dealer, especially if they don't know about the injectors being done.

Yeah, we shall see when I talk to them. I wouldn't buy one from a dealer if it had a lot of previous owners. Since this one is single owner I am hoping for the best but not getting my hopes up.

Looks like from the carfax the fuel filter was replaced every 10k miles doesn't say anything about the injectors being replaced. Also has new tires 8k miles ago.

@Coop68 or @YamaDirtrider can one of you link me to the thread about that battery charging mod? I’m not sure what to search for, but I want to read more about it.

Why are you guys wanting to boost the voltage of the charging system? Looking to overcharge batteries?

I just wanted to read more about it. Supposedly the stock system doesn’t put out enough volts to properly charge an AGM battery.

Not overcharge but get the system to charge at a voltage the batteries want. Odyssey Batteries stayed they want over 14v to charge and 13.5-13.8v float charge. The float charge on the trucks is 13.3. So busting the voltage by .5 gets in the range of what the batteries need. Can do it all without modifying the system. Building a plug and play device.
This wound be best for any agm battery. A regular wet cell is fine with the stock voltage

Curious, have you measured voltage while running? Most times I've measured voltage while running it sits around 13.8-14.1v. As high as 14.5 when the battery is depleted until maximum current is reached then voltage drops.

    Edit: DVOM measured

So i was reading and watching somthing that stated that after or around 2006 manufactures changed voltage outputs from alternator to battery. Let me see if i can find it again. I guess this has all come about with all the dual set ups and some people killing batteries and or just fear of destroying a $250-500 bucks worth of batteries. People have been reading what the AGM needs and realizing its not getting charged properly. Cause i guess our trucks 06+ arent designed to run AGM technically. So fare what i have gathered, but still reading into it!

Would upping the Alternator work? I was planing on getting an stock size altenator that was either a 200A or 250A. Still not sure which one to get. @YamaDirtrider this was one of the things I was going to discuss with ya but since you guys are on the subject figure I ask. The plan is to run Dual Odyssey PC-65-1750 In the bed. So that is some distance from the alternator.

Up the alt would only increase the amount of amps it puts out. For you, your not adding massive amps and speakers, so I’d say no. Don’t waist your money on upgrading the alt. I’d say get the larger stock size. When you do draw large power it will have to do less work to get them charged back to full

It is a good distance but like I and other said before, as long as you use a thick wire the voltage drop over 10’ is not substaincal enough to worry about. You can reasurch the wire, but even at 20’ of run with a 0 gauge I wound bet you’ll see less than .05v drop.

From all the reasurch currently you wound be better of with a voltage booster or relocating the sence wire to where the batteries will be. Personally I’d do the booster just so I don’t have to cut up stock harness.
