yuppp, the 6.0 has a lot of issues. I would consider buying one if the head studs/egr/oil cooler have been done, though. Those are the big killers

They are starting to get back into the Turbo game. We'll see if it trickles down to the Toyota brand. If the NX can regularly get over 100k miles without Turbo failure it could set a trend. They were burned buy Turbo warranty issues forever ago and have been gun shy building anything
Off of what your looking at but my 2000 Dodge 2500 with a manual regularly would get 20mpg city with a mpg tune (never smoked).

For you snowboarding peeps or those who travel west often; I'm heading to Keystone for a work holiday party and plan on leaving on a Friday. Is 3pm too late to head up with traffic or would I be fine? T

I was looking at the fuelly and forums that were saying the gas mileage was mid to upper teens. Which is good for what they can do (mainly towing/hauling) but not sure all the extra cost and maintenance is worth it for my uses. I just want a basic truck that will be dependable and easy to fix if i need to. I don't have any experience with diesels so that's an additional learning curve.

Of course, I'm still stuck with the tundra unless i want to deal with trying to sell it private party. For now it's just easier to maintain the status quo. Upgrading could be a lovely tax deduction if i need one although I'm quickly running out of time for this year.

My uncle has bought two "Bulletproofed" 6.0 for around $15k and ran them both up to 300k miles. Only reason he replaced the first one was due to rust.

Usually I see a lot of traffic when I get on i70, but it's usually in the morning (8-10am) heading to the mountain and then 3pm - 6pm heading back. I would think that going the opposite direction you would be just fine. But then again I just do day trips, and have been burned with traffic every single time I get on i70 so I just take highway 9 now, I come up from Pueblo.

I'm no expert, but I thought the standard deduction was doubled or something... likely making itemizing pointless for many.

Enough to make it a lot of fun!
From what my mom told me they are doing away with it in the next tax cycle. So you are fine this year but next year it wont do you any good.

Gotcha, haven't downloaded any forms yet. Is the social healthcare tax gone yet or do i get to supplement a failing system one more year.

I think my dad has one or two of those from the 80s in his garage :boink:

LEDs are cool but I definitely like the older light stylings more

Nope, goes into effect this year. There was a big thing back in Feb because the withholding situation changed significantly, but they didn't know the numbers at the first of the year, so when they finally did get it figured out people may have been having too much or too little taken out based on the new rules. Random source: https://www.nerdwallet.com/blog/taxes/standard-deduction/

What most people don't realize though, personal exemptions also went away, and they were worth 2/3 of what the standard deduction is. So even though your standard deduction doubled, since you lost the exemption you're really only going to get about a 1/6th more you can write off, not double. Your numbers may vary - I'm single.

Edit: Oh by the way, that's not the only thing affecting itemizing. The thresholds for a lot of things you can itemize are going up, and the caps for being able to are coming down (ie, you have to make less to be able to deduct mortgage, and you have to pay a greater percentage of your income in medical costs before you can deduct anything over that amount).

Edit 2: And I'm guessing Stig meant a business deduction, which isn't really affected. Us Schedule C people can write a lot of shit off you can't if you're employed by someone else.

It's not a tax, it's a penalty. Just like there's a penalty for driving without insurance, at least when you get caught. It's not so much a failing system either, as one that's being actively sabotaged and destroyed, and has been since inception. Something can't really fail if it wasn't allowed to work in the first place. But the answer to your question is that no, the penalty still applies for 2018, however it does not apply for next year, so you don't need to sign up for insurance during the current open enrollment if you don't want to have it next year. Depending on your situation though, premiums or at least what you pay may actually go down significantly next year. Just depends on if your AGI is under 48k.

Yup, just a big shell game in the end. Tax "break" here and increase there.

Something can fail if the math never added up to begin with... It's like if they started social security right now; paying out more than you'd ever hope to collect, the numbers don't work. Just a ponzi scheme.

I'd sure LIKE to have health insurance, but unlike the media will have you believe, it's not affordable for those who aren't covered by an employer. $1k+ per month for a catastrophic plan is not affordable, nor can that be considered much of "insurance" imo. But...that's what happens when you make the small healthy working percentage fund the rest, money has to come from somewhere.

Simple math... someone has to pay. When you go out to eat with a group of 20, and split up the check and offer 8 people subsidies, and make it a free meal for another 6 because they don't work, it gets real expensive for the remaining 6.
