Like others have said get multiple quotes (USAA requires 3 if you don't use their "preferred" shops) and keep in mind they will low ball even that. Then they will raise your rates or everyone rates if they see this happened enough (IE Hail damage last few years here). Other issue with all of this is lead times on bumpers, almost impossible to fit the purchase & RECEIPT of an aftermarket bumper in with the timing insurance company wants to get the vehicle repaired. They basically will close claims for "inaction" if 30 days go by, ask me how I know... Not too hard to get it re-opened but this is something you will have to deal with.

It's a personal call in your scenario, if claiming against your own insurance (plus deductible) or just pay to replace it yourself.

I hope to have my truck back next week from Body shop (Rear-ended on 36 over 3 months ago)

Cousin decided to see how well the snow slows you down.

Turns out there were no recovery points on the front so it took the tundra and the ram daisy chained to get enough traction on the ice to pull him out uphill.

Had traction for the length Of the maxtrax but the depth of the ditch meant a lot of pulls to pull him 60+ feet back.. Easier to just strap two trucks together.

I really need to get some more recovery stuff.. One strap, one tree saver, frame keys and two shackles are quite the downgrade from before. Everything else melted or got heat treated so it got tossed.

Slid down a big hill once on ice when I had a Jeep and slammed into a telephone pole right where the bumper meets the frame. Broken windshield from my head smashing into it, tweaked bumper, and my frame was out of whack. Insurance didn't cut me a check though, they just sent it to the body shop. I was able to get the windshield and bumper myself and gave them to the body shop. My deductible was $500, but because the body shop quoted for new OEM parts and I provided them they ended up giving me money back when they were all done.

That was 10+ years ago so they might do it different now. That is the only car insurance claim I have ever made. I had to make a claim on my house once and they just gave me the check.

I'd save a hundred bucks and get the Remington 870 super mag as a first. No frills nothing fancy or worth talking about, .classic pump action despite the muddy water it still kills birds

Another good choice. I'd stay less than 400 if possible for a first shotgun. Hell the Mossberg is versatile as a home defense item if you don't plan to hunt with it more than once

Stay away from the mossberg maverick is my advice. I have one and that thing is a real POS. Love my Winchester sx3 but it may be out of the budget for a first shotgun.

I've bought a maverick about 25 years ago. It came with a short barrel and a long barrel.
I'm not claiming it's the finest shotgun in the world, but I've shot trap and sporting clays with it and it's always done just fine. :notsure:

My guess is the phrase “they don’t make them like they used to” applies here. The forend on my maverick literally broke in two pieces on a duck hunt a couple years back.

That Benelli can do everything; upland, migratory, skeet, shoot 3”+. Plus they are just about the most quality gun for a lower price imo.

My brother has one. It's nice. The 870 just has so many accessories you can turn it into almost anything if you decide hunting isn't it's best trade...

Kinda why I was looking at the mossberg 500 flex based on reliability and ability to switch between home defense and hunting
