Ah yeah I see what you mean. Oh well :anonymous:

"Tread lightly" is a pretty common phrase in the outdoors world

Agreed. My message (that has been seen and ignored) was much like that to the guys from Texas. Bad move. Not a great representation of off road enthusiasts or Tacoma groups. He needs to find a way to rectify it and give back to show he’s trying.
But again, ignored. So make him famous, idgaf.

That’s why I asked and wondered why you didn’t use dual shielding. Flux core only isn’t a bad route if used properly. Gets expensive doing the dual shielding thing though.

Another welding question -- Can one drag the hand holding the torch across the workpiece surface to aid in maintaining the correct standoff distance from the torch electrode to the workpiece? Or do you have to always float the supporting hand(s) away from the workpiece, which would seem to be much more difficult and tiring?

What is a good first (beginner / intro) welder to get? Is it worth buying new, or better to wait and watch for certain brands / models to pop up on eBay or Craigslist?

Yeah. Between podcasts and videos they do help a lot. Bobs IG has some great stuff as well. He’s a very ‘I’m not even nearly the best’ type guy he just very consistent and tries to be as much a student as teacher. Great content.

First answer if 220 is option. Then ask what kind/how often/how serious. The questions will answer themselves to lead you to right place.

So much variance. 500-5k is pretty standard. Lol. Seriously. It’s like asking how much a car costs.

I know what tread lightly is but seeing how our friend there doesn't know not to carve in Moab probably doesn't know the phrase haha.
