Most of the stuff near Gemini bridges is now not allowed other than on the east side in the wash/canyons. :(

But there's a bunch near the top of pucker pass on those trails.

That’s insane. Sugar is going to be the “smoking” of our generation. I’ve been trying to quit added sugar forever and can’t seem to do it.

Any 2nd genners, or anyone (@thefatkid ), have any input on the 6spd manual transmission? I’m potentially looking at a 2015 DCSB w one in it.

Reading way too much on TW and Expedition Portal about issues these transmissions have. Throw out bearing, poor gear ratios, sensitive synchros, etc. but it seems like Toyota May have gotten their stuff together for the 14-15 models (lest the gear ratio).

I just don’t know anything about these transmissions.

    Any input is appreciated.

    Thanks.

    What haven’t I changed?
My 6-speed has been fine (2009) but my buddy had a 2007 FJ and his throw out bearing developed a squeak. Apparently there were two metals of different hardness wearing against each other that caused the issue. Toyota replaced the bearing, but the dealer didn’t have the proper equipment to do it right and Toyota wouldn’t replace the transmission until it failed again.

I would also recommend getting the short throw shifter unless you like rowing.

The auto has been great. First auto I've ever had and I generally prefer a manual but the auto is very nice to have for wheeling.
I should have mentioned that although the Tacoma manual felt like a box of walnuts, that's not necessarily a deal breaker in a truck. It's not like you need the smooth quick accurate shifts you'd want in a sports car.

My 98 shifts like that too. I’m just used to it.

Any issues with auto going down passes on the highway?

No. I downshift it all the time just like I would a manual.
One thing I don't like, and this is pretty picky, is that it will downshift itself at times. If I want to truly coast downhill, I have to actually put it in neutral.

Glad the jeeps ready to go, definitely want to see your taco when it is completed.

I'm just going to grab a camp site off of 128 (hopefully) for the night Friday. You have an idea of what trail you want to hit first? We could meet at the trailhead/access road, at my camp, or in Moab?

I'll probably lose cell reception in that area, who's on 2 meter? What Frequency?

Over 120k on my manual. No complaints from me except the gear ratio.... An auto does seem appealing offroad at times but I didnt like the auto in a truck and wouldn't change it for any reason
