I thought with the V6 only the prerunner had 4.10 and all other 4.0 had 3.73
Have no clue with the 4 bangers

Nope. My prerunner has 3.73 gears and the 4.0 auto

No, just the 4 cylinder trucks have the 4.10

Was in Iceland for a week -- family spring break vacay. Saw lots of LandCruisers... you know.. they kind with turbodiesels (well, as best I could tell). Saw several HiLuxes as well. I really like the look of the HiLux -- better than the 2nd/turd gen Tacos. (Sorry)

Came back home to find WORK! Glorious work! A surveyor (fingers crossed) may have more work than he knows what to do with... so here's hoping he can get rich off my back and keep me busy busy busy.

Good news: he has me working 1000 acres in Elbert County -- I get to drive my '04 DC TRD OR as fast as I like across the rangeland. Those "contour looking" lines in the top left of the pic? Yeah, those are 18"-24" high terraces from long ago farmer. I almost high centered on one. Didn't give it enough oomph, and I felt the rear stop pushing / start slipping as I stopped. Dropped to 4LO, locked the rear, then backed off it. Then went over with a little MOmentum.

MORE Good News: I now have business justification to do that suspension upgrade. Full OME here I come (I'm 99% sure.)

NOTSO good news: I hit a dip (at least a 12" rut) so hard that as I applied the brakes it seemed like the truck bottomed out, then sprung straight up in the air at least a foot. I hope a didn't break anything. But my Leer topper door won't latch shut. It looks like the entire topper shifted 1/4" forward! The 1gal gas can for the 1KW Yamaha generator tipped over. The entire bottom of my bed was saturated in gas when I checked later.

REALLYNOTSO good news: I was late getting my daughter to an appointment... and drove like a maniac down the county roads and E-470/C-470... when I got to her (after about 30 miles of driving on pavement, at up to 80mph)... I discovered to my horror that I was still in 4HI. Took it out of 4HI and a few hundred yards later the transfer case let go with a loud KaCHUNK (or small BANG). Am I screwed? Did I just toast my Tcase?

She drove all the way home OK. No odd smells. What to check or watch for?

You're probably ok. If you haven't changed the fluid in your transfer case and differentials, it may be great timing to drain them, inspect the fluid for metal bits, and put new stuff in and write if off as a business expense.

Depending on how straight/curvy I have been driving, my front diff (and rear locker) makes a clunk noise when it disengages.

Last day of work tomorrow. Considering buying a dirty 30 rack of PBR and walking around giving people beers based on their chill to pull ratio
