So Laphroaig? That had an interesting taste, some called it sophisticated.

Laphroaig tends to be very peaty so that would be a no go for @JasonLee

So much for the CV being a quick easy job. :annoyed:

Usually two or three hits with a slide hammer and spinning it each time and it pops right out. I have never met one this stubborn before. I've tried every trick I know. Prybar kick, slide hammer, slide hammer with a strap around the CV. This bitch won't budge. If anyone has other suggestions I'm all ears...

Yep, “Peaty” that’s how I remember it. Apparently it was top shelf.

I got nothin’. Mine was a bitch and a slide hammer with a strap tied to it did the trick, but sounds like you are pretty much there already

Doesn't someone make a "fix" for the shitty routing of the 3rd gen exhaust where it doesn't drag on the freeway at ride height?

    :puke:

I have read that the "trick" to putting them back in is to have the circlip opening at the bottom.. Maybe try rotating the CV 10-20 degrees at a time and try to bump it with the slide hammer again?

I guess worst case you can tie a snatch strap around the wheel still attached to the CV and try tugging the wheel off the truck.

I was rotating more like 30 degrees at a time so I will give that a try again tomorrow using the strap.

I can think of at least 3 reasons why this wouldn't work, but I know you're just being a smart ass! :smack:

I'm not familiar with that technique. I'm having a hard enough time kicking one. I have been wedging the prybar in the groove of the CV and against the ground...its just long enough to stay in there until I kick it...then it flexes and flies off in a random direction...usually at my shin. I am going to pick up a heavier duty pry bar tomorrow as I'm sure the flexing of the pry bar is taking away from the "pop" I need.

Use a strap or zip tie to hold the slide hammer hook to the cv.

I tried a strap in that fashion but couldn't get it to stay where I wanted. I hadn't thought of a zip though. That's a good idea.

    Thanks for the suggestions guys!
