ETA: Yes, having stealership install OME suspension when they put Humpty Dumpty together again. Was not aware I should get new factory stocks & springs. I’ll ask. If I do, but only if I don’t provide a replacement suspension, might be worth having dealership install new factory suspension, then host a TW OME party the next weekend... then sell the new factory parts... to help defray costs —OR— get those custom Alcans.... Hmmm...

You are the second person who has recommended the Alcans. While I am not opposed, they are more expensive at $710. But then, which shock? Can I still run the Nitrochargers? All I have read are “nitrocharger rear shocks are too short”? But their range of motion are around 9.3” — at least as long, as best I can tell, as the Bilstein 5125’s and Fox 2.0’s that All-Pro sells with their Expo springs, no? Or do Alcans with a 3-3.5” lift imply Bilstein 5125’s or Fox 2.0’s ($$)? @thefatkid told me Bilstein’s don’t well with heavy loads. @Squeaky Penguin is less than impressed with Bilstein’s...

Kings or Foxes would be nice but... $$$

BUT, the money saved by staying full OME will let me put LR UCA’s at this time. Research (lots of questions here on TW) revealed one fellow ran a pop up camper (1200 lbs) for a year and a half on full OME. I think he also ran Ride-Rite airbags, though not perhaps the entire time. The fellow with whom I spoke yesterday @Cruiseroutfitters in UT said the HD Dakars would support the weight, but sag of course while under load. @Box Rocket told me about using the All-Pro 1.5 shackles to gain an extra 0.75” of lift.

I think you’re running circles around yourself. If you’ve been surviving on the stock suspension up until now, then the OME stuff is going to be a big upgrade. 882’s and LR/SPC UCA’s in the front and Dakar’s with the AAL in the rear is a good set up.

I agree. Alcan’s might be nice, but I went back and re-looked at the Dakars. I think they’ll handle the weight... so that is where I’m headed. I started asking questions today just to make sure I’m not forgetting anything (e.g. extended brake lines, bump stops etc.)

I am working on reconditioning a set of OEM LCAs for a second gen and need yalls help. I got the old ball joint and old bushings out no problem, but the damn sleeve w/flange that goes around the larger of the two bushings just will not come out of the eyelet of the LCA. Any tips from those that have gone through this ordeal?

When my frame was replaced in Pennsylvania I received new springs and lower control arms. I'd still have them install whichever pack you decide on. They should give you the springs they would normally put on. I got by for a little while by cutting down another set of factory springs and added two leaves to each side. Then used a adjustable shackle to achieve some lift. Probably not enough spring rate for 900#. I'd bottom them out often.

Add the cost of airbags to the dakars and you may end up close to the cost of custum Alcans.

Yes, you can still run the OME shocks. Honestly I don't think any of the low end upgrade shocks handle a lot of weight well. I think I had the lighter valving in my OME shocks and they didn't do much maybe the heavier valving would be up to par but I think there was a small sacrifice in length. If you want to push your rig to the limit and maximize travel, off the shelf shocks aren't the answer. It's a lot more money to make the most of your travel though.

For what it's worth I think I got 40k out of the Nitro chargers, killed them both on miles of washboard roads. Replaced them temporarily with Toytecs BOSS offering and bent one if them within 10k. The fronts are somehow still holding up.

I'd do a good bit of searching on the dakars. I think I recall many being unhappy with there load capacity.

Short answer you'll probably be happy with what you have picked out.
