REI anniversary sale starts on Friday. Garmin inreach explorer+ and mini will be $50 off. Does anybody have one? If so which model should I go with. Leaning towards the mini but still up in the air. @ramonortiz55 any thoughts?

That would be my guess, either it was sitting on top of the ball or wedged between the latch and ball so it seemed secure but a bump dislodged it and it popped up. I doubt U-Haul will own up to it though. "It was latched when he left..."

I have an older inReach, and have partners with both the Explorer+ and Mini’s. I’m going to upgrade to a Mini, but most of my adventuring is on foot, and I’ll already have my phone and/or paper map with me, so I don’t feel the need to navigate directly on the device, or type out messages on the device (I’ll just do these from the app on my phone).

oh well, shit happens. It turns out my buddy has an extra tailgate that he'd be willing to sell me. I'll probably end up picking it up and wrapping it

    Stuff. Also things.
If the Mini will let you handle things via your phone and Bluetooth, then I would definitely recommend one.

I have an older version from when they were made by DeLorme, and I love it. The month by month billing is a good option and the messaging is a game changer. The tracking feature is pretty awesome too.

Rakuten regularly has 15% and 20% off sales. I found out recently that the discounts work on the Garmin units.

By regularly, I mean at least once every two weeks.

Rakuten is like Amazon - They have different vendors.

Rakuten is in California, the vendor that sells that specific Garmin is probably in your state as well.

Try selecting a different vendor to get around the sales tax.

Search "Garmin InReach" and you'll see multiple results. Each different result is a different vendor. Play with the different selections and see which one doesn't charge sales tax.

Death. You talking me into the explorer+?
Then it would be better to wait for the Rakuten sales.

REI supports the Seirra Club. If you enjoy keeping motorized access I suggest finding another vendor. If you hate anything with an engine by all means continue shopping at REI.
