Sweet. How’d you know I love that style of plate bumper?

How kind of you to fabricate and mount it prior to selling the truck to me.

My wave may not be mighty but it could easily drown someone.

For real, any insight into my other (truck) dilemma?

A DCSB would have more cab space for sure. You could get bed bars with attachments from Yakima or Thule for your skis/snowboard and remove them when they’re not needed in the off season, or see if putting them on a roof rack would work for you since the DCSB has that option. I haven’t ever found the 5’ bed to be lacking for space when it comes to holding camping gear, but it was also just me and my wife and we pack pretty light for camping since we would usually backpack to a site.

I could definitely pack lighter for dispersed truck camping and probably make it work. I’d definitely have a topper though because I like to secure gear and keep it mostly dry (or only partially wet in my current topper’s case).

As for snowboard skiing I’d definitely want a topper so unless I get a box on top, I’d have to somehow make it manage in the bed.

Oh I didn’t realize you wanted your stuff that secure. I think it would still work with a topper but like you mentioned, the skis/snowboard would need to be in there diagonally. The second gen bed does have integrated notches for 2x4’s to span the width of the bed which could let you make more use of the vertical space inside the topper. :notsure:

Y'all just dated yourselves. Wait a minute... :anonymous:

Come up to North Boulder and check out my 1st gen shortbed. I fit 4+ pairs of skis in there with a 32" spare, several action packers, boots and poles. Skis are anywhere from 160-180.

But really, your main issue seems not to be gear storage, it's people capacity (dog counts as people).

    1) So, solution: disown daughter, give me the dog and keep your truck.
    2) Get a double cab whatever gen you find a decent price on and make the gear work.

Remind me to send a picture tomorrow, I spent 4 days 3 nights in my topper at the Aspen commuter lot this past winter and it was decent.

    Never enough
Let me answer your question by saying this...
I’ve never had issues fitting camping stuff (if you can even call it camping with all the crap they require) for myself, wife, daughter, and 2 dogs in the bed of a DCSB. I can’t imagine anyone needing or wanting anything more than what I’ve been made to fit. If you think the cab will suit your needs I’m sure the bed will too.

Oh and BTW I run 177cm skis and they fit diagonally without issue.

I will probably take you up on that offer.

Dafuq? Do you somehow bend the space-time continuum to make that happen?

Careful what you wish for. Ask @Martyinco ... pretty sure Mugsy is defective and he’s out of warranty.

I’m leaning towards a 1st gen DC. And hopefully keep the current xtra cab to either pass on to my daughter or save it for Tim’s second project :anonymous:

I'll be here all week (unless I last minute decide to ride the motorcycle to Denver for work one day).

    I grew up playing Tetris.

Most dogs are. I'd still borrow Mugsy and go run around the woods.
I could handle time without a truck... if yours come back looking like Tim's current 1st gen DCLB with blower, better suspension and such ... I'd trade you for my DCSB.
