No, they were just acquired by a private equity firm in 2015, they’ve been around since 1996. Just seems that the lawsuits started in 2015, coinciding with the acquisition. No coincidence, of course (/s).

Backcountry Magazine is from 1994, Backcountry Exprience in Durango is from 1984. I was in the outdoor retail/wholesale market 40 years, there are many commercial uses of the term going back before them. They were a wholesale customer of mine in their early days when they were just a shop in Heber City, UT. Had some fun with their buyers and management before their buyout and my move to the retail side. Protecting a trademark from legitimate infringement is necessary to maintain it, but I don't understand how a magazine, guide service, local retail, outdoor classes, guiding, etc. could be considered infringement when they aren't using the goat logo or competing in e-tailing with the same products?

Another company thinking they can do whatever they want. Thanks for the heads up. Won’t be buying from them anymore.

I bet if they win these lawsuits they'd celebrate with a killer sale :bananadead:

Haven’t bought anything from them in probably over 15 years but my two shining purchases:

Marmot Halo 4 Tent: around $50
My first Ever soft shell ski jacket (Mountain Hardware): $25

They always priced matched for me. Hit them up on their live chat and said I'm looking to buy item x from company x, heres a link, can you beat that price. 9 out of 10 times they would.

Depends on what design turns out to be it, but I'm in if that is decent and $49K Target Price is hit.

Fuck, now I have to start carrying a generator as recover gear? Or just a huge inverter?

Depends on the sin wave of the inverter or if the generator has cleaner power output. I’d suggest both just in case.... then again I have not stayed in a holiday inn in a while so i could be blowing smoke
