    What haven’t I changed?
That’s my method too except after I freak out I just subtract one hour since that’s easier than changing the clock

Hey gents, this will be my first CO winter and i plan to be in Summit County most of the weekend. My questions pertain to tires. Are snow tires necessary or can i get away with my Cooper ST MAXX with chains? Are chains even required?

As long as your Taco is 4WD and your tires aren't bald, you're good. Chains or snow tires are a 2WD requirement.

    What hasn't been modified?
And a requirement for level 15 or 16 chain laws. No matter if your awd/4wd. but the normal passonger chain laws 4wd or snow rates tires are fine.
Chains are only required for a 4wd as a last atempt to keep the road open. Chains are good for ice

What Josh said. A lot of us here run the ST MAXX's, they are M+S (Mud+Snow) so you will be good.

My question is, how? Looking at the picture he was too high on driver side but that trail doesn't look steep at all

Lots of dust and custom dents, Check Build
ATs can get you by in the winter.

They're shit compared to a proper snow tire though.

Not really, way better than KO2's and other tires that don't self clean

If we are talking in terms of snow performance, I would put chains on any tire that doesn't have studs in the ice

I wouldn't say they self clean on the scale the paddle tires do, but mine would start to kick out snow over like 5mph. We went snow snow wheeling just about every weekend last season and I made it a point to compare everyone's tires. Just ask @Littles, I was always hating on his KO2's lol

I always saw guys with KO2's and packed tread just spinning. Like their tire was almost bald.

Dunno what all complicated science cohesion/adhesion shit they were going for there

DOT tire tread disperses water so you don't hydroplane as easily.
    Traction comes from rubber compounds.
