my wife would actually love that. We picked up one of those heated blankets from Costco last week and she's been loving it but hating how she cant walk around with it while its plugged in. Been thinking about hooking it up to an extension cable but who wants 40ft of cord criss-crossing all over your apartment!?

Just give her a dolly and a car battery to roll around. No extension cable needed.

You know, if it meant they'd bring back the real, unedited, full versions of things, I would be perfectly fine with that extra warning. The blatant edits and recolors they've done to some cartoons/animated films I remember from my childhood, if they even show them anymore... sort of makes it like it doesn't matter if they show them or not. Coming up on the holidays here and I just saw a clip on the Daily Show about some fool going to release a new version of Baby It's Cold Outside with some revised, politically correct lyrics. Fuck off.

For only a week? I'm surprised the yes rate isn't higher than just 39%. Tens of thousands of dollars for a week in jail seems like a no-brainer to me. Some of those other choices too - shave your head, walk to work for a month, no time off for a year? If you'd say no to things like that, it kind of makes you sound like an entitled little brat who definitely doesn't deserve to have debt erased.

Or how about something that makes more sense like 2 years of civil service after graduation. Military or Federal service. Simple example if you got an accounting degree then you'd go do accounting for some federal agency

I tried the federal loan forgiveness program as i worked for non profits and public schools since graduation. FUCK BETSY DEVOES and the 0.0001% approval while her unaccredited for profit fake schools have been illegally funded.

I feel for the people who got fucked by those school closures but would love to see some options for other student debt relief

That's one of my big sticking points as far as campaign platforms in this upcoming election, and I honestly don't know how to get around it. Yes, I get that student loans can be ridiculous, and that tuitions have gone way up, not in line with inflation (but hey, so have home prices and I don't see anyone offering me a chance to buy a house at 'reasonable' prices never mind giving me one). But no, I cannot possibly agree that everyone should just have their student loans forgiven, in full. I fucking paid mine off and it took me the first 10 years out of school to do it - how much farther along would I be right now if I hadn't had that debt? Are they going to do anything to make it up to me now? What about all those people who stayed in to get Masters degrees and such, and now all these job ads for entry-level positions with preference for masters? Do I get to go for free now to make up for it? I went to a state school that was in-state, and earned scholarships, so I was definitely on the lower end for students who had debt, but fuck if I think someone who chose to go out of state to an Ivy League school or some stupid expensive program over something that would have taught the same thing for half the price deserves to go completely free. There just has to be some kind of balance to this idea where only a portion or percentage is forgiven or there's ways to earn it off with public service or something. I'm all for 'free' education and helping 'these kids' out, but I'm too petty to be able to blank check it without a piece for me.
