Yep. I was excited to have a 34 gallon fuel tank. But then quickly realized I have to fill up 30gallons after only 240 miles. Kill me now!

With my luck if I bought a Cummins the injectors would need to be replaced and the transmission would blow up. At least I have low maintenance costs.

the federal student loan forgiveness was pitched as a program to get people to stay in lesser paying teaching/non profit positions, now that people are calling after serving their time the program is giving them the run around... not the same thing some are arguing but dont forget what that program was pitched as...

Yes. There's an extension of that too - consider student A and student B who are both up to have their loans forgiven. Both had equal academic performance and could get into the same schools. But A only racked up 20k in debt, and B went to a more prestigious school and maybe fucked around a couple of majors and racked up 100k. How does A feel about his education being 'worth' the same as B, when B is going to get all the name recognition and opportunities and such? How does treating a five times greater debt the same teach any sort of fiscal responsibility?

I remember the first time I saw that it was actually being posted as 'boomer humor' by 'millennials'. I was like... um, it's right and perfectly reasonable? You didn't have to take out the 100k loan for the Ferrari, you chose too. They forgive your debt when I'm over here with the 30k car I've mostly paid off? It's demolition derby time. It's not like these were necessarily predatory loans (there's some debate there) like a payday or credit card or something. You knew the cost going in, you knew the rate, and you knew that a degree didn't guarantee a job with the salary necessary to pay it back even if it probably would/could.

Oh I have no problem with a program like that, and it should absolutely be paying up on what it promised. In contrast to my expectation that I won't see a dime of what I contributed to Social Security. Same with the earlier suggestion about military or civic service, and at least there you've got GI bill and discounted tuition rates and such. The idea of earning loan forgiveness is definitely different what I hear from candidates promising to 'wipe out student debt.'

I got you bro. I think the two greatest honors on TW are being featured on the calendar and in the header. Third is being spotted in the local thread.
