Can anyone with a 05-15 Tacoma double cab short bed measure the distance to the outside of their frame rails at the mounting point of the rear bumper?

I use whatever works. Streamers and the trusty San Juan worm worked for me today. 10 fish landed.

Was out wheeling yesterday and took a decently hard hit to my front driver side tire. Started driving home after airing up and noticed my steering wheel skewed 45 degrees to the passenger side while wheel travel was straight.

Pulled over and checked my alignment components and everything looked to still be in place. When I got an alignment at Toytec last month they put beads of red Loctite on my cam tabs/UCA/Tie rods so that I would know if anything ever got shifted. None of those beads were broken or anything. Not quite sure how my steering wheel could be so messed up if the alignment hasn't changed at all.

@YamaDirtrider said it looked like one of my wheels was toed outward and mentioned something about my steering rack "jumping a tooth"

Anyone able to offer any insight?

Do you have spindle gussets? I bet you bent a spindle. Especially if only one side is messed up. If it was the rack, both sides would move evenly.

Yeah, I have spindle gussets. After seeing @Littles bend a couple it was one of the first mods I did

Steering wheel angle has more to do with the tie rods than the alignment cams.
I've heard of steering racks jumping a tooth and I've experienced a bent spindle like Brett mentioned. :anonymous:

Does it pull at all? Or just a crooked steering wheel?

Ive slammed mine into a few earthen banks and the wheel always gets jacked up. Alignments has always fixed it. Im with hypoxia, crooked wheel is usually tie rods.

Typically it's where you pay this guy to molest your truck with implements of destruction simply because the shop has an alignment rack and you don't.

Setting toe with a tape measure is good enough, right?

    Depends....
Actually, last time I talked to @Fatkid and he told me what position of the cams would create max caster (I've forgotten this of course).
I then did toe myself with a tape measure (about 3 times of adjusting/driving) and when I took it in for an alignment, I discovered that I was actually fine. Camber was darn near 0 and my toe was perfect.
Your results may vary depending on how closely you resemble my pic or your gif
