I'm browsing wheels trying to convince myself that my current setup is sufficient. I'm streaming 9 News in the background listening to the insanity.

Howdy Y'all. Me and my family are planning a trip to the Ouray area to do as many as the passes as well can. We plan to leave Alabama on the June 20th and leave Colorado on the 27th. I had a few questions for yall.

    1. How many of the passes in that area will actually be open by then?
    2. We are hoping to set up a base camp at a somewhat central location to the passes in ouray telluride area. What campgrounds would yall recommend for as remote as possible but safe to keep our trailer and bikes there.

Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thank you. Pic of our setup just cause lol.

All passes should be open by then. Alpine Loop is open now, Ophir is open to the top on the East side. The West side usually is left to melt out, which it will by then. If this weekend is any indication, camping is going to be nearly impossible unless you reserve a campsite at a USFS or private site. Local campgrounds were completely over-run since Thursday this week, everyone is escaping the cities now that the mountain campgrounds are re-opening.

Awesome, thanks for the info. Im hoping that since most of our trip is during the week that the camping will be a bit better. Camping is our only option, im not a hotel person. Is it even possible to have a base camp with as far as they all are from each other? Or should i just take the trailer with. Well with everywhere but black bear lol.

It's absolutely possible to base camp and hit all the trails. I've always tried to camp at Little Molas Lake. It's free. Or the pay-to-camp Molas Campground might be another option. Both along the same highway, just outside of Silverton.

This open's June 1st. Maybe try and make a reservation now.

Weekdays won't help here. Everyone is here for a week to 3 months, really not much weekend camping up high. Trailer won't work on most passes due to tight switchbacks.

We haven't turned on the irrigation yet, though we need to. As a result, not really even needing once a week in some parts of the yard, and just that in others. It's half dandelions and half grass though, not nearly as nice as either of yours. Need to get the weed&feed down too.

I'm lazy and don't want to spend all morning searching. Anyone give a general recommendation on tow pigs? My father needs a new truck, primarily for his tree side business. Coming from a... 2004-2008 (I can't remember) F-150, and he's looking at a new F-250 diesel with an MSRP of 82k. All kinds of things don't make sense to me about that but... We've had Chevy before but he doesn't seem to want that route, and he definitely doesn't want a Dodge. Any just quick overview like 'these years are good or avoid these years' or 'this engine not that engine' or anything?
