    Ouch.

Well, I saved the $20-$50 on the VIN verification by stopping by Boulder Toyota, who did it for free.

Then I proceeded to give the state/county over $3000 in sales tax, registration and fees. :frusty::frusty::frusty::frusty::censored::censored::censored::censored::censored::censored:

I would have been less annoyed if their online "fee estimator" had not told me $195 the three times I put in the information.

They work exactly the same in the mud as any other tire that's not a mud tire (like with paddles)

    1st mistake- boulder
2nd mistake- sounds like you told them what you actually paid

I saved about $500 in tax on the 4runner by not living in a city. I know because they first ran it with my old address

I'm sure it will be fine

My grandpa managed to haul a horse trailer up the road with whatever junk factory tires came on his duramax

If the road conditions are looking really really shitty I'll drag the Tacoma to Montrose and drive to hunting camp in that.

The composition of the mud and the number of driven wheels are much bigger factors than whatever tread pattern is filled with mud :D

It's not too bad, not the sticky clay stuff anyways. The 350 had 4wd and a rear locker so I ought to be OK

I’m guessing he got hit with co tax since he bought it out of state...

Yeah, I brought it in from WA. From what I read and what they showed me on screen, the biggest taxes were sales tax - based on MSRP and then is 85% of that for the taxable value. (Maybe 75% for light trucks, but only one county website mentioned that, so I am not sure if that is true anymore).
    ~$1k went to BoCo
    ~$1k went to Colorado

You always pay sales tax on a used vehicle based on the location where you register it.

Just don't have the seller put the sale price on the title... Or live out of city limits so you only pay state and county tax.

Too late on that. I thought I looked up all the info I needed before bringing it back. Oh well.

For registration yes, but sales tax, which is the biggest dollar amount, is based on sales price.
