I dont necessarily trust the number that they read out most of the time but I do trust that they change when the pressure changes. I like them on the trails to let me know if one tire is dropping while I am on the trail.

In my experience there is no need for it. My TPMS always read 3-5 psi different from the actual pressure in my tires. Not to mention that the door said 30 psi but it would randomly say one tire was low (changed which tire it was saying each time) while the readout on the dash said 30 psi on all 4 tires. I just look at my tires before I get into my truck, which is the same thing I have done with every vehicle I have ever owned (the Tacoma is the only one to ever have TPMS)

The dummy light has no real value to me. If it was an active screen showing pressures with the ability to eliminate the warning light while running low pressures I would keep it. Even one up the system, the sensors have temperature data, if that could be displayed along with pressures that would be high value.

You can set up a screen on OBDFusion that shows the pressures and the temps. I havent done it but I have seen the displays that have it set up that way. Its pretty sweet.

The turd gens have a number display on the dash that is enough for me. Or was, when I had TMPS.

More on my vehicles poor design faults. The 03-04 4runners can't handle almost all OBD dongles being plugged in while driving. Sets check engine lights and traction control lights due to communication interruption. Once I eliminate the ABS/electroboost setup I could likely get away with adding a reader to the system. My TPMS is still there, I just disabled the light and removed the sensors, my TPMS is also the door control receiver for wireless door locks so I couldn't eliminate it.

Interesting you say that. For about a year, wherever the sensor that receives the signal from my fob is, has become very temperamental. I have replaced the batteries multiple time and thats not it. Sometimes it will work from 150' away (rarely) and sometimes it doesnt get the signal unless I rub the door with it. Seems to work better from the rear of the truck. I have wondered what the check is to fix it.

Make sure you have no aftermarket LED lights (dome or entry lights) that are energized and accessories plugged into the the power ports. Stray RF and or ripple currents wreak smart key communications. One of the biggest causes of abnormal operations is aftermarket stuff on the dome light circuit. Typically the worst offender has been the large LED panel dome lights, they are very dirty electrically.

Damn it. I do have some Amazon led bulbs in the dome lights. One is burned out anyway. May switch back because I go in and out of the truck more times than I need those things on.

If this works, your next Blue Yummy is on me!
