Yea, I'd be curious to see what your towing temps are. Some people swap in cooler thermostats without realizing it hurts power when the engine can't get fully up to temp. I'd normally get to around 195-200 deg coolant and oil temps unloaded and I could hit 240-250 oil temp towing 550 east out of Montrose and up Monarch

If you think steel prices are bad check out aluminum, specifically 7050 and 7075

 

Oh yeah in those temps i would expect it not to warm up fully

In comparable temps my truck would be fully warmed up after the 55mi drive to boulder if I didn't cover the rad.

 

It works but my insurance policy doesn't like it so much

 

My father in law sells steel coils and owns a lawn edge manufacturing business. He's been saying the same thing as you. Infact he's selling his manufacturing side of the business due to 2008 repeat scares. Crazy times.

25 ft or less isn't too bad to wrangle around. I have buddies that swear bigger trailers are easier.
