Keeping the bike inside my apartment at night was also a big part of my theft-prevention strategy.

But yeah, at the end of the day... if somebody wants a bike badly enough, there's a way for them to get it. You just have to find the balance of making things unappealing enough to discourage potential thieves without inconveniencing yourself. That balance will fall in a different spot for every rider and location.

And we haven't even started talking about the possibility of thieves stripping parts off the bike while it's locked up :)

    See below…

Oh yeah, and many others. If someone wants to steal my bike and it happens, then oh well. I have renters insurance with full coverage. I'll get a massive check in my pocket and start over with a new bike.

    Yep, it's a balance.

Yes, please just steal my entire bike, don't strip it.

Tell ya what, the concrete they used 100 years ago was pretty impressive. I'm currently remodeling and expanding a building build in 1928, and the entire building (until you get up to the attic) is made of 18-36" thick concrete walls. We have been coring holes and cutting openings (and reinforcing as necessary) and there is not a single stick of rebar in this thing, just aggregate that's up to 6" diameter... wild stuff

mostly likely you’ll have to keep the spacers if you added gussets to the spindles

I thought I could probably remove them if I go to a 17” wheel or a different 16”.

More cracks discoverd after the last trips on my inner fender. Welded another plate in so maybe it will last another year before it rips somewhere else. Also going through and retorquin shit I discovered a loose UCA bolt and both front leaf spring bolts were about to go MIA. One nut was gone and the bolt backed out about a quarter of an inch and the other side was loose. Crazy!

Anybody ever see the company "Steel Erectors"?
Their motto is, printed right on the side of the trucks,
    "Satisfaction with every erection"

You’re welcome to come by and see if my spare tire fits (17x7.5” FJ Cruiser Alloy). You have to jack it up in the street though.

It feels weird to make sure I have thermals and a winter hat packed for camping with it being hotter than the surface of the Sun right now.
