Dry powder is perfect with a leaf blower.
Plastic shovels are so much better than metal.

The stuff here was light enough that I got most of it with a broom. Definitely worth doing now... any deeper and it would be too much to sweep.

Got about 7" and still a little bit coming down. Chose to stay home. It's nice getting away from a concrete driveway in a neighborhood with HOA forcing you to shovel .3 seconds after it stops snowing. I lived on a corner lot too so was supposed to shovel all the way around... But the city would push snow up on the sidewalk from the other street on that side so I never did it haha
Now I have about 25 feet of sidewalk is all, and the slab to the garage is covered. Nice having a dirt driveway, though need to get a plow for the gator instead of just packing the snow down

Hearing it's light fluffy snow. Might start clearing with a push broom instead of a shovel.

I normally just sweep my deck and sidewalk real quick most of the time. Shovel though takes just 2 passes

Super fluffy, you could almost blow it away with a leaf blower.
Snowblower got it done in about 10 minutes.
    about 11 inches here.

Going back to the garage heating, anyone tried a ductless mini split (AKA heat pump) for a garage? I hear they have models that will heat effectively even when its like -10 out.

I drove to work today, to sit on TW and troll the internet. Why did I need to Drive through the snow to sit in this lab and do nothing? when, infact, I could do this from home?
    Why is the sky blue?
    Where do the cows go?
    What time did time begin?
    Last but not least,
How/Why are my brains not sprayed all over the wall behind me?
"They do work less efficiently at very low temperatures, 10-15 degrees."

I think your budget/ garage size dictate form here my guy

I'm a "Propane, and propane accessories" endorsee

    EDIT:

"A heat pump works the reverse of a standard A/C system when it needs to heat. This requires it to dissipate the cold air pulled from a space outside. When the temperature drops too low, a heat pump can start to have problems working.

In very cold weather, the outside condenser can freeze solid. When this happens, a heat pump will go into air conditioning mode for 5-10 minutes to melt the condenser ice."

if this is true for all Mini Splits I say F that.

There's a lot of space between "heat effectively" and "work efficiently".

I've got a mini-split in my house and it's great for moderate temps, but it won't match A/C in extreme heat and its efficiency falls off a cliff in cold. I switch to a gas furnace once it gets properly cold out.

If I remember correctly, heating efficiency falls off somewhere around 50-60 degrees outdoor temperature. As you get colder it effectively becomes an electric heater--it needs to generate its own heat rather than transferring heat energy from outdoors.

Don't quote me on the numbers, but the point is--make sure your expectations are realistic.

My HVAC guy said they work alright down to about 15 degrees iirc. I see a few homes with them when I walk the dogs but this is also a neighborhood where most homes have a fireplace for supplemental heat
