The vibe just ain't what it used to be

uhhh Denver used to be a lot more chill? I'm not sure how i'd describe it. But the denver of today isn't the one I obsessed over 20 years ago, that's for sure.

While living there I found a dichotomy of people who did nothing but bitch about it. I might have been part of it too, even . People who had grown up in denver and been priced out with its gentrification bitched about all the changes (good, and bad) and cost increases happening. At the same time people moving to denver from SF/LA/NYC/BOS/CHI/ATX/etc bitched about how it was nothing like their home city because lacked diversity, food options, late night options, and public transit. Really? Austin is so much better? Why are you living here, then, bitch?

People broke into cars/trucks on the block. Vehicles were stolen. People were leaving used rubbers in the alley. Stolen wallet. Loud music, disrespectful neighbors, blah blah blah. Big city experience without the big city benefits, yes I sound old as fuck




That said, the beer scene and concert venues are a major plus. Denver is a stopover city so lots of decent bands play cheap downtown shows on weeknights between their big weekend gigs on the coasts.
