I am thinking about buying a new set of joints and then warranting these and having them on hand to swap out in the future.Warranty should be very easy and simple with SPC

found a mini mag lite in a ceiling several months ago. The battries were at that time firmly degraded and lodged in the tube solid.
\Question is, how do I get them out? Already tried lubricunt and banging it against the workbench.
Next i drilled out the inside of the battery, and it hissed at me, at which point I stuck it in a 1 1/4" square tube outside and left it there.
any suggestions? I feel like the flashlight itself can be rescued if the degraded cells can be removed.

i bought a new set from O’Reilly for about $120. Going to send in old for warranty and hopefully have a spare like you stated for the next 20k change.

Anything that eats the corrosion will likely destroy the workings of the flashlight. I would get a new mini mag, or, since you already drilled it, put a screw in it and yank it out. You already released the built up pressure, so now you have either lithium to worry about or sulfuric acid

edit: it’s a tiny battery so it’s not a huge deal. Please don’t do that to an e-bike battery or larger.

I could give you a hand one night this week after work. I have a trans jack and the crow foot wrenches you'll need for the top bolts if needed.

If you can determine what the battery brand is, Enegergizer, Duracell, they will warranty the whole light.

Heat or cold might help separate them. Throw it in the freezer for a little while and see what happens.

If they're corroded instead of swollen maybe drizzle vinegar down around the battery to try and loosen it up, then dissemble and clean with rubbing alcohol.

Have you tried taking the lighting element out from the top to see if you can't just ram the batteries out? Probably going to need to do that anyway to clean the corrosion and vinegar.

Last ditch would be to ultrasonic clean it in mineral oil for however long it takes.

Figuring out how to spend a few hundred dollars in time, effort and equipment to save a $35 dollar flashlight is the exact kind of distraction I need on a Monday.

already took it apart down to the bulb, it has a piece on top that says"Do Not Remove", so that's where I stopped.
I'll try the freezer thing, see what happens.
