I wonder if this guy got bullied at this particular theatre at some point, it sounds like it is a pretty rough place. Maybe he even tried to get help from police afterwards or something. With all the thought that went into the attack and booby trapping his apartment, I think he was targeting certain people. Not individuals, but people who went to that theatre anyway. So hard to tell with a mentally unstable person.

Yeah didn't you say you had a hard time with the blender? :D something about forgetting the lid...:p
Just a curious question - he was wearing armor head to toe but from the backside is there armor for the ass? Just wondering if you had that shot could you of just tagged him in the ass which most likely would have injured him and dropped him maybe?

After watching Forrest gump you would think there would be ass armor. If so, I want some in case I ever have to go to prison...

lol, I'm sure they make ass armor but none the less, even if one could jump on the guy from behind, it would difficult for him to maneuver with a mask, riot helmet, and ballistic gear on. Aurora PD confirmed yesterday he purchased 6k rounds in 2 months...3k for .223 and 3k for .40. As for the ballistic gear, he purchased July 2nd and paid additional fees for rush shipping...

Maybe I should just keep my mouth shut, but I can't. It's my job to say something. And I'm not trying to start shit. I decided to post this here, since the for sale thread is not the place.

Geez. I'm a man too, and I save lives too, in a different way. No love or respect for teachers...THAT will be the downfall of this country. We will all be too stupid to even know its happening. I don't want to get started on all that though, I just hope you didn't take my earlier comments too personally. I get pretty fired up about that topic, obviously.

My post was to be funny. Which is why I quoted Sean because he's my buddy. :). I have respect for teachers. I'm the same way as Eric though if spell check does not catch it then oops my bad. and it's not the best on an iPhone and I do 100% of my posting on tapatalk from my phone. I'm sure there will be other things that will bring the downfall to this country like liberal psychobabble bull shit and what not....<---- to clarify that was a joke. No one get all amped up because I said it. :)

Word. Sorry I took it wrong. I just recently go t my first teaching job only to have my step dad say to me "those who can do, those who can't teach". I've never been so mad. And I graduated Magna cum Laude and could have done anything with science, but choose to help young people prepare to run the world when we are all old. Very sensitive topic with me. No hard feelings though. Not here anyway ;)

Yeah that would be enough to piss you off. My dad didn't talk to me for about 3 months when I became a firefighter. My family is a large portion to the special forces family and I didn't go that route... Any way he came around to it and loves what I do now. Maybe it will just take him a little to come around. I honk the saying is "those who can't do, teach." not saying its fitting for you but I say it when my sister in law pisses me off just to get under her skin. (she teaches 6th grade.)

That will definitely get under her skin! I teach middle school too, and those little turds pave your way to heaven. I teach 6th and 8th. Little smartasses, all of them.

Yeah, to be honest I dont know how she does it. She also does the year book and has some cool kids that show her funny stuff all the time. Like this little girl had a zombie appaclolypse survival hand book her dad got her! (they live in a military town). Same girl also showed her what happens when you try and google "where is chuck Norris right now". Funny stuff.

Yeah, I forgot the commas (funny considering what got this whole thing started). That will definitely get her fired up. I teach 6th and 8th grade, and those little shits pave your way to heaven for you. Funny how parent expectations change when they see you do what you want. Especially if you are making a difference like we are.

So you guys would just let people like this murder unopposed? Armor keeps you alive but I will give you large sums of money if you can take multiple rounds center mass (even from a handgun) and still continue advancing on your targets and ignore the person or persons shooting back. That's also not to say that you couldn't hit around the armor or a head shot. Personally, I know my wife and I practice such precision shooting regular and have done so for many years. Head shot isn't the first thing you take but if it's all that you have you take a good shot. There is also plenty of things to consider such as your target's foreground and background.. this means that you don't risk additional innocent people being injured. It's really difficult to explain how all of this really works to those who really don't know but feel the need to input their expertise on the situation.

I have a very bright TLR-1 tac light on my primary carry weapon and my insinuation is that I would have a clear target... or clear enough given the circumstances that returning fire would still be a better option than allowing him to freely and methodically open fire. Ideally we would be in broad daylight but that's not always the case. This is just about a perfect scenario for the bad guy but that doesn't mean it's impossible. He either had a light or flash coming from the firearms so that's where you focus your aim. It's really easy to do what he did when you're basically playing a video game w/o any concern for being harmed when nobody is shooting back. Things change and focus is shifted once you are taking fire in a 2-way range scenario and I don't care how good your armor is. Worst case scenario a few dozen rounds hitting him in various places may have distracted him long enough for a few more people to get out. A few more people is a few more human lives were talking about. Isn't that worth it? You people who think that firing back is a bad idea need to take some active shooter training and see that your thinking of containment and hoping for the best is considered the worse tactic for dealing with this scenario. You meet it with as much force that is available to you at that given moment. If I can fight my way to my truck I have an AR15 ready and waiting but if all I have is a couple of handguns then that's what I have. I train and compete with handguns regularly so I'm quite comfortable with taking shots that require exacting placement. Again, we're talking about a ruthless sicko who's only motive is body count. You think I should see if he wants to talk things out?

This is why you train for countless scenarios and constantly run through scenarios on a daily basis. Situational awareness is paramount. Know your surroundings and have a feeling for everyone around you, what they're wearing that could cover what weapons. Who seems a little unstable. Shit like that. I live in a constant state of awareness that those who who are oblivious to things and people around them simply wouldn't understand. Now, if I was in this theater it's really hard to say what I actually would have done or how I actually would have reacted because there are FAR too many factors and I still don't know every single detail. If I was near the back with my wife I would likely move to get her out safely first. I then likely would have circled around back and tried to enter through the exit or another entrance or something. Walking straight into a wall of bullets w/o any cover isn't the most tactical approach. That's not to say that if I wasn't about to do something better and he was coming for me and I had no other choice I wouldn't fight fire with fire and hope my training and luck were better than his... but at that point that's all you have. I still like my odds with training and a firearm than neither of those in ever situation imaginable.

I agree with, it's to risky of a shot to take!!! With almost 200 people in the theater you won't get that perfect shot. And how quick everything went down you wouldn't know he was wearing all the armor. And if you decided to shine you tactical flashlight at the guy to get a clear shot you potentially just asking for him to point the gun towards you and all the innocent people around you. This convo could go back and forth forever, with many valid points. I'm gonna bow out now since I've voiced my opinion.

The 'perfect shot' only exists on gun ranges and video games. Would you have faulted someone in this situation if they did draw and return fire? That's kind of what it sounds like you're saying. I know I sure as hell wouldn't.
