Murphys law isn't working. I bought a snowblower and that means its NOT meant to snow. This is some BS

Just got rear-ended, looks like all the force went through my aftermarket hitch and bent the frame >_< Any idea how much it is to fix this sort of thing? Also, looking in the bed, it looks like the frame might be slightly pulling downward on the back end of the bed - would it be worth loosening the rear bed bolts to not have stress on those before I can get it fixed?

Definitely worth an insurance claim against the person that hit you. Prepare yourself for a very expensive bill and/or insurance talking about totalling the truck depending on mileage. Then take the check and have someone throw it on the frame straightening medieval device to pull it back straight.

125k miles, just paid it off last summer. Wouldn't have thought it'd be worth totaling over this, yeesh.

Well, it’s a base model SR and 2016. Airbags haven’t gone off have they? Probably a small chance of them totaling it, but I’ve heard of a few that when the frame is bent it’s done. It’s a lot of labor to do a frame swap.

No airbags, still drives straight. I really do think it just crimped the frame where the front of the hitch attaches. Anywho, took all the photos, sent those off to insurance, we’ll see what they say. Any shops in the Boulder<->Denver area folks would recommend getting it checked out at?

Your pics seem to show that the bumper and receiver hitch were moved but not really seeing any "crimp" in the frame. Nor do I see any damage to the bed behind the bumper. If anything it may have bent it right behind the spring shackle mount, but that isn't enough to worry about, and the pics aren't really showing anything like that. Takes a pretty good impact to bend the frame.
What does the body line between the bed and the cab look like? If that is still even and true, then I wouldn't worry too much about it. Since the truck is paid for and I assume no body damage to the bed or tailgate, just loosen the bolts for the bumper and hitch, stick a Hi-lift under it (or your shoulder) and move it back into position.

NoCo was less than anticipated. Funny how this State sees frequent snow for the first time in a decade and all hell breaks loose.

To each their own... I tried studded and dedicated winter tires, but they did not perform well enough better than my new-ish KO2s, so I sold them. And to my earlier discussion on why studded tires are not helpful, I'll just bring it back up when people complain about taxes and how crappy the roads are. :bananadead:
