Should be able to set that thing with a hair trigger.
They know where to find a nice treat now, so they will be back. Try something they have to pull on a little harder like a piece of cheese smeared with peanut butter.

There is a better way! If you really want to catch a mouse, tie a peanut butter soaked small piece of string on the spot where the food goes. The string get's caught in their mouth & they can't get away without setting off the trap. You can stuff steel wool into places they crawl. Put all dog food in plastic tubs.

We had a mouse taking the food and never setting it off. So we just put the peanut butter on it, never set the trap & let it get comfortable. Then we set it with the string & got him. Like this, tie it super tight & cut it down :smokertransformer:

I use these and put peanut butter under and not on the trigger because they have to work for it and then bam. Hahaha!

Hopefully you just went for it in the meantime.

I did it a few days ago and it was fine. The colors aren't quite popping yet though. Usually this is the peak, but looking like this coming weekend might be better.

Yep, made it over Schofield, it was after all the most "reasonable and direct" route to get back to I70. Helped offset the boredom of 12 hours on pavement to get home.

Unfortunately I ran out of daylight though, had to stop at Taylor to pick up my $7.25 worth of fish to go:

Pretty hopeless, but I had to try!

I don't think I've ever managed to hit peak Aspen colors, even when I could go every weekend. But damn, they were pretty colorful this trip, and I had a great time. I'll count myself lucky that I wasn't already snowed out of the passes.

On the topic of trail reports, I was delighted to find Tomichi passable this year, they did a good job with the repair:

    DSC05773s.jpg

Even the road to the tunnel now looks passable to me, but it's still closed off with barriers at the Hancock fork:

    Catch y'all next year.

    Oh, and:
I've used the cheap harbor freight tester on the 4.0 motor, works great. Might have previously extended the threads though, whichever size was needed for a Ford 4.6 modular, it didn't fit without some lathe work.

This weekend has been perfect in the past, but you never know!

Make sure to thank CORE for the work they've been doing. https://www.keeptrailsopen.com/

Trails like Tomichi, Williams, and the Alpine Tunnel would probably be closed permanently if left in the Forest Service's hands.
