My next door neighbor, guy in his early 90's, has been sitting in his driveway for the last two days in his early Mustang Mach-1 revving the shit out of the engine. Like all day yesterday.
I checked on him yesterday to make sure he wasn't in the garage trying to do himself in.
He had a big shit eating grin and just waved.

 

Better have him sign the title over to you so you can snag it in a few days.

 

Damn, I missed them by minutes last weekend. They were lit up when I drove by, but were already shutting off lights by the time I circled the block after smelling the deliciousness. Guess I should have driven faster down the pass.

Already envious... was just there and can't wait to come back.

I'm not a fan of the full moon, though... and hear me out, it makes for lousy photography. If you have the interest and haven't yet tried, next time you're out on a moonless night, try some long exposures. Even most cellphones can take great night photos these days, you just need clamp or a stand to hold them still, and fiddle with settings to get a long shutter. I was blown away the first time I tried, there's so much more than meets the eye! Now I'm hooked, always lugging a camera and a tripod into the darkness late at night, and always trying to time trips for the new moon. (The next one will give us a solar eclipse, too!)

Not to argue that you haven't timed your trip absolutely perfectly. Just wanted to complain about the moon of all things, I guess. Enjoy the peak aspen awesomeness... and post some pictures!




Cranked up the saturation on this one, but apparently there was a solar storm that night kicking up a bit of aurora... couldn't see it by eye, but I'm claiming there were some subtle streaks of color up there.


Can't get to CO without stopping in UT...
