maybe. If so he must've been too full to answer the dinner bell the following day and then two days later because another guy in camp shot a bull just 600 yards from mine a day after I shot mine and then another guy in camp killed his cow just 100 yards from where my bull lay and foxy never showed up at either of those carcasses when we were breaking em down for packin'.

congrats on the 3 bucks and to Ash for her first. Nothing wrong with starting small. Gives her something to shoot for next year.

Anyone know of a game processor that’s open for drop offs today (Sunday)? Got a gutted deer that I need processed.

I’m in Thornton but willing to drive if I can get it in today. Most places look like they’re closed today

Edit: dropped it off at Meat Cleaver. Cool guys there.

    Hi folks!
I'm a beginner turkey hunter (this spring will be my second season) and was looking for some advice on scouting. I haven't had a chance to get out there much recently, but hoping that I'll have a bit of time in March to scout a bit. I've been researching, and it seems the biggest thing is to just get out there and look for signs, or find them in the morning or evening on the roost. I'm in the metro area, so it's tough for me to get out in the morning/evening during the work week hike around. Will it be effective if i can only get outside on weekends? I've been doing a decent amount of digital scouting on onX, and was hoping ya'll would have some tips on the onX scouting. I've been looking for meadows and water sources mostly. Are there any other things I should be looking at on the app?

Surprisingly I didn't start until recent. Not even when I lived in Alaska a few years but I've always fished. My dad hunted a bit when I was a kid and a lot of my buddies always did. My brother in law is a guide and really got me into it. I do wish my dad started me younger on it though.

I was born and raised on a farm in Ks. Grew up with a gun in my hands. Glad my family still farms because I love going back home to the farm. Not that there's not some good hunting here in Colo, because there is. Matter of fact, 3 of my brothers come each year to hunt elk.

You can scout anytime and find sign and figure out some patterns. Sometimes it's nice if there's a layer of fresh snow or you can find an area with moisture so they leave tracks. As far as roost trees, look for trees with big, spaced out branches. They like to have a clear spot to land so they can see that nothing is hiding down there waiting for them. They also like to be able to run and fly off a hill or small cliff to get to the roost trees so it's not as much work to get into the roost but this isn't always the case. if you find a tree with droppings on and around it, then good chance you've found one of the roosts. I've found they have been most vocal in the mornings. They seem dumb but they can catch on quick if you are calling too much. There is an interactive map on dow website that will show general areas of turkey and other game concentrations. These seem to be somewhat reliable as far as getting you pointed towards a general area. Disclaimer: I am by no means a turkey expert, they are tough to hunt out here

But it very well may be if hunters start to look to other units in the state

They need to limit not only draw tags but OTC tags too, not make the season shorter.

    jk

I drew plains late season :infantry:. I normally get an email when awarded, maybe it's delayed. Hoping for a buck this year. Last year I accidently overlapped the plains date with OTC elk so I missed most of it.

Some decent archery tags still surprising leftover. Might try to go that route this year if I can swing the time off in Sept.
