Another year of getting screwed over by the "queue". How tf does anyone know when the arbitrary wait line starts online? I checked at 6, 7, and 8 this morning and couldn't access to wait in line. Hopped on at 8:40 and there was already an hour wait lol. Of course the tag I was trying for the third time this summer was already gone. See everyone in OTC I guess :hattip:

Same here, 47 minute wait at 8:30, everything gone when it finally let me in. Couldn't even get OTC for elk. Deer was leftover only.

Busted system. I put that same complaint in the survey they sent me online last year

Ordered a few boxes of ammo because the 7mm wasn't liking the Super-Xs last weekend. Figured I'd see if it was a factory finish issue and try a couple different shells from other brands. Don't think I've ever seen this out of an unopened box before. Unfortunately I got screwed on x2 boxes of Corelokts. I knew Remington went to hell, but didn't think it was this bad lol.

The Federals are ok and good to shoot.

I've always thought federal was one of the cheaper brands but I've heard it's pretty decent.

Same. I'd say the Federal Powershoks are superior to Win SuperXs and Rem Corelokts solely based on finish and appearance. Hoping they shoot as consistent as well. The Feds continuously feed and eject without any issues after trying tonight, which was the problem I was having with the Winchester rounds.

Also updated my initial post to include photos since it looks like they weren't there. Apparently I didn't have enough coffee this morning

Looks worse than army surplus rounds.

was just in Olde town Arvada and there were trucks lined up outside Steves meet processing. Looks like a lot of good scores. I was wondering though, I know CPW offers classes for kids to get out and learn to hunt but are there ones for adults? Anyone know of somewhere that does things like that outside private ranch style things?

I shadowed a buddy bow hunt small game but would love to learn more. Even if just accompanying people on an outing. I got the flyfishing down and love that but always down to learn and try new things.

You just need a hunter education class, and you are good to go. Same class for kids and adults. Some of the sporting goods stores offer classes after hours, Sportsmans Warehouse is good for that.
As far as archery, practice, practice, practice until you can nock and draw arrows without thinking about it and hit the target at various distances.

Anyone have any luck so far this year? I struck out in first rifle for elk but still had a really good season, got on a lot of animals and learned a ton. And got to get some good use out of 4H, the Taco took everything CO threw at it.

Also I second the comments above, take a good hunter safety course and potentially a firearm safety and handling course depending on how familiar you are with firearms. And prepare for a few slow years of learning, but it's worth it!

Damn, what unit were you in? We were dry with zero snow or rain in the San Luis Valley. I also struck out in 1st rifle. Got into elk just about every day, but every time we tried to close in someone on a side by side would go ripping down a nearby road and spook them. Got realllll tired of that.

Had two buddies cash in their pref points for GMU 76 muzzle loader. Passed on a 6x7, ended up not taking anything home unfortunately.

Another buddy got a 6x6 last weekend opening day.

I'm hoping to get on the hill 2nd season, but life has been lifein' real hard lately.

Dang! Yeah I definitely feel ya on the side by sides, I see the value for folks who are getting up there and can't get around as easily on some of these 'maintained' FS roads, but that's not 90% of folks I see running around on side by sides. lol. We were out in GMU 27. The snow came in the day or two before the opener and I had high hopes of quiet stalking weather but naturally a day of sun turned it into a loud crunchy mess. lol. Need to start looking at building points though so I'm thinking our app strategy will be a bit different next year, might go for a second season tag or a cow tag somewhere. Good thing we've got til April to figure it out! haha

Struck out for 2nd season elk. Since the season is now later in the year it seems the elk move into lower elevations by then, at least in the area I go. Saw a few tracks but didn't see a thing. Bright moon at night though I'm sure had them more bedded during the day. Dec 1st I have my buck tag hoping to fill
