Bulls were quiet along the CO/Wyo border in September. I was hunting mulies, but saw little elk activity for that GMU and time of year. Tons of old sign though.

Same! I have never seen so much old sign...hunted from 12.5k down to 8500 ft...99% of the sign was from their way back up in the spring...I spent 9 days scouting over the summer, never located the cows or bulls, I should have known better than to hunt it this Sept...I was stuck on some really nice bulls i'd seen the summer before, figured i'd find them when they started bugling. They were either silent, or they weren't there..I'm leaning towards the latter.

Water is a huge factor this year. Damn hot drought we've had w/o virtually any precip since July (unless you count the freak snow in Sept). I've read similar comments on other forums about lack of bugles or sightings during archery season. I'm sure they're hole'd up to what little water sources are still around, keeping quiet and sticking to cover of night pretty well. Too damn hot to be out there broadside at noon hour.

Bummer. My brother has a mule tag and that will be our primary focus, so hopefully they at least stuck around.

Finally finished my new lightweight mountain setup. Should be a little easier to lug around the backcountry. 300 win mag Kimber Montana with a Swarovski Z3. Ended up being 7lb 11oz

Anybody have a taxidermist recommendation in the Denver metro area? Specifically birds? Shot my first wood duck today.

Yes my unit qualifies for a refund, my friend evacuated from his home yesterday, he’s close enough to lake granby that I like to think his home won’t be a loss, but frankly it’s to early to tell and it’s 2020

Friend of ours lost his house in Granby yesterday. He owns the motorcycle/snowmobile dealership in Granby. Woody.

    Anybody shooting a .454 casull?

I know this isn't the trade forum, but I sold the revolver a while ago. Am moving and just found a new box of HSM bear load hard cast for .454

Would be willing to trade the 50 box some 9mm or 7.62x39, ideally in a home defense round, but ammo is ammo

If no takers, I'll repost in a bit, free to a good home.

How’s everyone making out this season? We got a nice mule buck, but the full moon really screwed most of 2nd rifle for us. We saw plenty of elk, but they were all moving from national forest to private in the middle of the night and bedded down by daylight.

Elk/deer hunt for me was canceled, unit 18 + East Troublesome Fire = shit

Still going to go up next weekend to a different unit and try for a bear, not expecting anything but at the very least I’ll get out of town for a few days.

I forgot your unit got canceled. That sucks. I have a cow tag for 4th rifle up in 6. But I’m pretty sure that fire burned a good portion. So not sure if that’s happening.

With any luck dad will get sometime in his unit and if I’m super lucky I’ll snag a bear in the other unit (371) we are heading to
