Lol, you were right. Fishing in SW CO was pretty terrible last week. I fished the Gunnison, Uncompaghre, Dolores, West Dolores, San Miguel, and a few lakes. All terrible fishing. The only real productive waters were the little feeder creeks.

Anyone fishing deckers or the dream stream? I am heading that way this weekend and curious what they hit other than midges.

Going full Combat Fishing I see. I always have luck with BHPT- I prefer the soft hackle versions these days.

2hrs or less is hard. The word is out and the waters are over fished. I still think the best water within two hours is the Blue.

Believe it or not hopper droppers on Clear Creek start heating up this time of year. Fish the shallow edges where you swear the fish won't be, but there they are.

Finally took a little time to hit some water last week. Found a bunch of little bass in still water which were rising on gnats. It was good to get out... it was a good distraction.0910201732_HDR.jpg

Anyone fish Trappers Lake (a bit of a haul)? Heard it has the largest population of Colorado River Cut throat trout strain in the state.

Got confirmation of full of "Cutts" from Someone but also said it's always windy (didn't know this) up there.

Nothing that a fat hopper and a lead wrapped beadhead can't solve :D

A couple of years ago I was fishing Rainbow Lakes above Netherlands’s when they made 3 dumps Into the lakes. Pretty cool to watch.

Lol, the unofficial trout belly flop competition. I wonder what the mortality rate on those drops is. Straight from stocker tank, to full blackout with loud engine sounds, to GERONIMO!

I bet the trout already living in the lakes have an initiation ceremony for the newcomers.

Yeah, I ran into a CPW Ranger leaving and we talked about it. Found out at Rainbow Lakes any kind of winter the fish don't survive so they drop 6" stockers every year, if is a "warm" year I am sure those stock para-trouters get brought to dinner table right away.

So, I will take it over not having any fish in the high alpine lakes (no one is going to lug them up there).

Interesting, I wonder whether he was referring to the stockers not being able to survive, or trout in that lake in particular. I've seen plenty of holdover trout in alpine lakes--no way they stock every lake every year.

    Deckers flow are insanely high.

11mi canyon is very low but still productive fishing. Laid into a few good holes on saturday.

Hooked into what i believe was a Salmon at the dream stream today and it ripped my midge on 5x right off. Everyone was talking about the Kokanee
