Wasn't bad, but I think I was concentrating on my footing as much if not more than the fishing.

I got skunked on the blue yesterday. First time that's happened in a long time. Tried at the ranch and below green mtn I don't think we went down far enough once we talked to a few other anglers coming back up.

Enough to make it a lot of fun!
He wasn't a monster but can't go wrong with being on the river in the mountains.

Slipped on some of that lingering snowmelt. Wallet fell out of my pocket and accidentally bought a boat.

I'll take you up on that. I bet those big ol' 35s you got would work pretty nicely as a shuttle truck, too :turtleride:

Anyone camped down by Salida over the past few weeks? I want to fish Brown's canyon this weekend. There's some yard work to be done early Saturday so I'm thinking about heading down mid-afternoon and doing a quick camp...wondering whether I'll be fighting for a spot.

While not an impressive fish... it is the first fish I've caught using a fly I tied myself. Hard to tell, but it is a #20 cinnamon ant with hackle. This was my fishing goal for this year, and I knocked it out on the first outing. Better come up with some more goals!

Did this over the weekend. If you see me in South Park say hi. You can even chuckle a little, the rack is off of a 4runner and was cut down about 8" to set it back in the windstream. I will be placing my travel trailer on my land this weekend and fishing every weekend tell it freezes up again. I start on the Arkansas and work my way north and west. A little hint just after the rainbow run starts the sucker spawn. The browns sit behind and eat to fatten up. Use an egg sucking leach streamer pattern.

I've been fishing a bead headed sucker spawn fly on the Ark for the past few months. I use a hot pink bead head and about 3 inches of yellow yarn. The whole thing takes 2 minutes or less to tie. This pattern slays...

How does everyone carry their gear from the house to the water?

I have one of those big black container things from costco with the yellow lid that i keep my waders and net and random fly fishing gear in, but its too small to hold my rod holders and they normally get put on top.

theres some talk of husky containers in one of the rtt threads, but those seem a bit short too.

my dad has a giant tuff box thing he got from the military, but i havent seen anything at stores.

maybe a long plano or something could fit all the gear?

I have a rod rack to carry the rods. Everything else gets set in a 2x3 (ish) clear plastic container that holds boots, waders, net, and my vest/pack. I have a separate small tackle box that usually rides along in case I need to make some new leaders--it's got all my extra line, leader material, backup forceps, etc.

Just pile the stuff into whatever container you have. It's not delicate.

I use the FishPond Duffle for gear, have a plastic container for extra fly boxes/ flies and supplies.
