It was a great day, I wasn't at work!
This was at Kite Lake above Alma. The plan was to hike another mile above it to fish Lake Emma, but there wasn't anyone fishing it so it only made sense to hit it. Never made the hike. I'm told the fish were a hybrid Yellowstone Cutty.
On the way out I saw the moose, and a little further West on the side of the mtn was 7-8 elk, too far to get a good photo.

Did some bluelining today. Was really looking forward to checking out this area. And, I picked up a 8' 1wt that turned out to be a perfect fit for this size of water. I've struggled with dry-dropper, but today I had it dialed in! I was crushing it. I think having the extra reach allowed me to get better dead drifts and what not... all I know is today was awesome.

Why show you this pic? Because these two acres getts me on 5 miles of private river. I have saved for years and when this came up for sale I offered 10,000 less and they said yes and I couldn't say no.

Forgot to mention I popped into G-town last Sunday afternoon just after a heavy rain, with a light rain on-and-off the rest of the afternoon. Pulled in a couple decent browns. First time I didn't catch stocker rainbows.

Were you at Greenway park or the lake?

I haven't fished greenway since they built those condos right there but always caught a ton of browns there

Wow, that would be great but I'm not going to hold my breath. By the way Michigan is the same, high water to high water is public access but we still had a-hole neighbors who accosted anyone as trespassers on the Grand River.

Oh, and I know people also threated by those wonderful folks on the Arkansas (they only own to midpoint of river but claim they own "shore to shore")

    Voluntary Fishing Closures:
The CPW has recently announced a number of voluntary fishing closures to protect and preserve trout. On rivers where water temps are consistently reaching or exceeding 67 deg F (dangerous levels for trout), we ask that you respect the following closures. Otherwise, keep an eye on the “Rivers to watch” as warm water temps have been observed and may receive voluntary closures in the near future. When water temps reach 67+ deg, there is less dissolved oxygen in the water for trout to consume and they become sluggish. When they exert too much energy, their lives are increasingly at risk. With this in mind, please do your part to protect current and future generations of trout!

    CPW instated closures:

    • Colorado River: Kremmling to Bair Ranch, in Glenwood Canyon, after 12 pm

    • Eagle River: Eagle County Fairgrounds to Dotsero, after 12 pm
    Rivers to watch:

    • Roaring Fork: Water temps reaching 67+ deg F after 2 pm

    • South Platte: Water temps are reaching 67+ deg F after 12 pm
Other States call this "Hoot Owl" restrictions (no fishing after 2pm)

Truck said 105 when I got in yesterday at 5pm....

Last summer the hoot owl was in effect for the areas in Yellowstone I was fishing. This year they got about washed away with flooding.

This summer flooding and a mudslide has wreaked havoc on my local stream. The national park entry system makes it impossible to fish sporadically and the heat and drought have now caused restrictions to be put in place locally here too.

With wildfire danger I may as well sell off the camping and fishing gear. I've acquired too much of it any way and getting to enjoy it has required I get further and further away from home....
