Popped into an alpine lake above 12,000 feet yesterday, and fished the creek below it. 'Twas a good day.

    From the lake:

I have not fished this this year. I know from CP&W that fish counts are way done from Run off from Burn areas.

That said I have always heard a good place is around the Fish hatchery (On the river, they don't like us casting into their ponds) :D

Popped into G-town for a couple hours Sunday evening. I had a blast tossing a size 24 dry in brown; they were rising and sipping a bunch on tiny bugs once the wind died down.

And, I tried my hand at a mole fly in size 18 Tiemco nymph this week. I'm looking forward to trying them out:

This thread needs a bump! Had my best day ever on the SPR in the Deckers area this week. Normally I get skunked, and only one fish ever landed. So, landing three in a day was a shocker to me, with one being the largest landed yet (but isn't large per se). I recently tied up some midge dry flies in blue dun, size 20, and broke those out when the midges came out and the rising was most active... and they were fire. I've depleted my smaller-than-size-20 stock, so I'll be tying up some soon.

A few decent Fall Browns for your viewing pleasure. Both fish ate a streamer, different watersheds and a few weeks apart. I may have to start a thread like this for Utah as well!

Just a warning, it's almost combat fishing in a lot of rivers here. Best to find a place with a bit of a hike in.
