I can't believe they legalized that fungus. It's a great time to be alive.

    Wait, what? They legalized boomers?
Man, I feel old..... It was years (like more than 5) before I found out liquor stores didn't have to close on Sunday anymore.

They didn’t “legalize” them. They just decriminalized them. So if you have them, you’re fine. But you can’t legally buy them.

So, growing is the way to go.

Does anyone have a recommendation where I can get my doors rekeyed? I bought my truck used and the keys never opened the doors but they start the truck. I'm getting nervous having to rely on the fob to open the door.

Are you convinced your door locks were previously damaged/changed/rekeyed, or is it possible your keys are just worn? If the former, press-on with rekeying so everything is back to one key again. If the latter, have you tried having a new VIN-cut key made by Toyota?

I'm guessing they're damaged, both keys have the same pattern but one is clearly in better shape than the other. I can feel the lock moving some but then it gets caught on something. I'll head over to the dealership and see what they think.

Based on your description, I'm not sure rekey is the answer. There might be some kind of damage requiring repair or obstruction that needs to be removed. Good luck!

Rekeying @ a dealer is pricey. Don’t do it. Just refob with a Chinese knock off & use the resequence command. My truck came with 2 keys - 1 fob. So far the Chinese knock off fob has been great. Lots of threads showing that process on here. I’ve never opened my truck with the keys

This is the opposite of what @2KO1SpaceOtterSea is desiring to do. Getting a spare key fob (keyless remote) would be a backup, but if the battery were to die, that doesn't solve the problem with being unable to open the truck with a key.

I agree with Norton - you need to pull off the door panels and check to see if there is an obstruction of something broken with the lock assembly. The keys may be just fine. It may need lube, it may be that some metal/plastic pieces are shifted or broken.

I’d be willing to bet that the ignition uses a different key than the door locks
