Man oh man, today turned out pretty damn good! I could not find a u-joint for my jeep today so we took the Tacoma. My friend was able to meet up with us earlier than expected so I decided to head up rampart range road and find a campsite. It was a lot of fun watching him take his rig over an obstacle I take for granted. Here he is and my wife following.

I' had 6 in mine. But they were happy enough to have a ride. Also I drove 3 hours with 4 people but they didn't complain.

Not at all. But I'm very mechanically inclined. I read some threads and now need to buy a few things including boots of course.

I've never replaces one yet but I would replace the axel then replace the boot on the old one and keep it as a spare

To do a new CV is alot less time, if you know what you are doing it can be done in 20min or less but the re boot took a while with cleaning and re-packing the boot expect a mess with the re-boot.

I live in the dorms at UCCS. Getting a replacement axel is kind of out of the question sine I have no other place the put the "old" one or to rebuild it beside next to the truck and I don't want to take out the replacement when I get the current one fixed.

At least this is an excuse to get more tools.:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I called Liberty toyota and they do replace the boots, but they wanted at least $270 for the job. So by doing it my self I save about $150. And I gain even more experience.
