Colorado Trail Status, Closures, repairs, discussion.

What specifically? This is an entire table of roads in the Canyon Lakes District.
The fact that the Cameron Peak fire caused many to be closed due to washouts, flash flood risk, et al?

 

Yes, it's a list of all the roads that are closed. They are ALL closed. Even if it's "open", access to the forest is off limits.
Are you like this in real life or just on the internet?

 

I didn't know if you were trying to call out anything specific like the "seasonal closure" vs closure from the fire. Or something else. Those Forest Service pages are not very intuitive and dense with information.

Since I deal with Federal/State/County/City/etc land managers data and information all day every day, in real life I'm probably like this on the same topic...
Data often isn't updated ASAP, different user groups post conflicting and sometimes incorrect information, and so on.

I agree that it sucks that a large area of the forest is closed. It's going to contribute to the overuse we have been seeing for years since the load will spread to neighbouring areas.

 

Anyone been up to t33 crash site yet this year?

 

Went up last weekend. No issues making it to the end.

 

Was the ATV/SXS traffic as ridiculous as ever?

 

Nope. Ran across something like 6 SxSs total on Ironclads and a few trucks/jeeps on T33. Only saw a few people at the north end of Bunce.

SxS rental traffic was minimal today only because it’s Monday. But I hate everything about that place on the weekends. I’m starting to see Estes park atv rentals on more and more trails in that area....

 

It’s very depressing.

That trail system goes through some pretty country but it’s so hammer fucked by idiot tourists on ATVs that I literally avoid going there anymore. Pretty shitty when it’s one of my ‘home’ trails getting ruined by people who often don’t even live in the state, much less this area.

 

Yep! I used to love this area and consider them my ‘home’ trails too.but I’m going to avoid bunce school road for now. And I don’t even mind when I see a bunch of other 4x4 rigs on a trail, but the constant onslaught of SxS is obnoxious. It’s starting to get a Dakan road vibe to it....

 

Ophir Pass is CLOSED due to a delivery truck that is stuck and completely blocking traffic. Tow services in route. Unknown length of closure, avoid the area.
