I kissed a tree and I kinda didn't like it..

 

I think the drop on Steel Bender is scarier though.

 

That's not as good as me stopping on that obstacle.

I think they both have their fears to them. The is of steal bender is that if you loose brakes you are going off a cliff on two sides.

Took the old man out near Deckers to hit up Cedar Mountain Road and Metberry Gulch!

Gotta say, I was quite impressed by what his stock 4Runner could do!

Ha! Nice! @ashrr213, @AJB4x4 and I did the same thing. We were airing down at the head of Cedar Mtn when you all came out! Did you go all the way to the end of Metberry?

 

Yes we did! Some friendly campers were telling us about wheeling mishaps they'd seen!

 

I believe that. That rock definitely had the adrenaline flowing!

 

Some pics from Yankee Hill today with @NaZRaQ and @AJB4x4. We ended up in some pretty bad snow drifts, spent more time out of our trucks than in them.

 

Checking out trail damage to find some trails i can run most likely solo in a couple weeks when i go camping in the hall valley area, i found this trail called red cone, i just love what they have to say about it. "If you slip off of the trail going down the Mountain you will most likely die" yeahhh i think ill avoid this one especially seeing as i am a newbie.

 

How far up the trail did you guys get before snow stopped you guys on Bill Moore Lake last week? Or did you make it all the way up?

Trail itself is fine, the loop at top isn't quite ready yet needs another week or two.

 

Not far at all. Drifts across the trail were up to 3ft deep.

 

We made it just past the reconnection of the Chutes obstacle route and the bypass. About 100 feet past where the fork goes up to bill Moore or down to mill Creek.

 

Going to Colorado to live up in the mountains for 3 months... Basically living out of my truck and a little cabin doing some research. I will be going up to the Mountain Research Station and living there. Any good advice on good camping places on the way?

 

That's just off the Peak to Peak highway. There's camping everywhere.

 

Were there many people camping up there? Headed up that way today.

 

Went out to the NW corner of the state last Thursday through Sunday.

Camped in Craig on Thursday, Echo Park in Dinosaur NM on Friday, Gates of Lodore on Saturday. Lots of miles of dirt trails and dirt county roads. Awesome views, it was the first time I've been out to the area.

Crappy attempt at lighting stuff up, there was no moonlight and the rock in the distance was a pain to light up without washing out everything close.

Antelope that wanted to run alongside us. Continued for a while, would leave our side and then pop up further down the road.
