It's just super high risk of sliding off the side and flopping. @Madjik_Man has a good story about that obstacle.

I'm on my slider too in that picture, and it would've been hard on the sliders and mid skid a bit further up. Need like 37s I think to make it up that.

    Yup.

Watched my buddy crunch his driver's side rear quarter panel on the way up. Then proceed to ruin the passenger side rear quarter panel on the way back. On his '72 K5 Blazer that was literally one week old from a complete frame off restoration.

On the same trip got to see my one and only roll over. Dude in a Jeep who was way beyond his vehicle's, and driving, capabilities.

    I always take the bypass.

I was directly across from you 2 weeks ago, on Webster Pass with MHJC. We installed a bunch of trail signs and bashed out some drifts. Red Cone should be pretty open all the way through.

I used a warm weekend in March 2022 to finally install my brand new from old stock 2000 4Runner driver's seat. $800 directly from the factory in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan.
Is the road between Crested Butte & co-133 open & passable? I remember reading it had washed out or rockslides over it (?). Perhaps that's where I need to go this summer. Absolutely. Gorgeous. :jellydance:

You talking about Schofield pass? traildamage states: there was a rock slide that covered parts of the trail and ruined the bridge in April, 2015 that may have made the trail impassible. Please contact the forest service for more information.

I'm not sure. We were not heading that direction so we just did the loop.

Yes, they actually got that cleaned up within a month I think. Trail Damage only updates when they actually run something, and sometimes only the TR and not the main description. The better/current/live status is probably Bushducks: http://bushducks.com/tripreps/passopen.htm#schofield We actually talked about that slide here... somewhere... in one of these threads... many pages ago... But it has pictures!

Edit: Ok so we talked about it in a few different threads. But it had its own too: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/schofield-pass-impassable.372636/

Ran Jenny's Creek today with a couple Heeps. Had to get winched up the last snowdrift, right before Yankee Doodle Lake- that drift is a good 12 feet deep. Did something not very nice to my alignment getting through one of the rock gardens, but otherwise had a blast.
