I think I talked to you, did you make it over to that ghost town one of my group was talking about?

I'm not sure if that was me. I hardly saw anyone at all that day. It was kind of weird for a holiday.

Not too long. Maybe another hour. Just enjoyed a pretty day.

Was up in the Winter Park area on Tuesday. Found out Rollins Pass West was open, so up I went!

This critter was west of Fraser.

Tried to sleep up there, could not get to sleep so I headed down at 4am. Saw a few moose on the way down.

Cool pass, I expected the tunnel to be much larger. Seeing it gives me one more reason to dislike Boulder county... for keeping it closed for someones personal agenda. I thought it was going to be an actual tunnel, instead of the extended arch that it is. :D

Hmm, pretty much caved in (or someone dumped a crap load of rock in it) when I hiked it a few years ago and peeked over the corrugated metal barrier they had up.

The tunnel? No it was closed after a Denver firefighter had his leg amputated after a rock fell from the ceiling. Apparently the facts and circumstances are disputed.

So yeah... Boulder is being its usual self and keeping it closed for some personal reason. From what I've heard, private companies have offered to foot the bill to fix the tunnel and Boulder County is what is holding it back. Same deal with Left Hand Canyon. I have not been there before or after, but know people who have, and word is that there is no reason it should not be open, Boulder Co is just using the "floods" as an excuse to keep it closed.

A quick search online for Corona Pass or Rollins Pass brings up TONS of articles citing the same "stonewalling" actions by Boulder using inflated costs, pictures of dilapidated trestles that are not in their county and other slimy BS political tactics to keep it closed.

Well, one things for sure, if they proposed to repair/ open it only for Bikes (Mtn or Road) it would be.

Does anyone know if the Kingston Peak trail is open yet? I am thinking about a quick trip either Saturday the 9th or 16th of July.

7/5/16 - We drove the Rollinsville side to the gate yesterday and notice posted says it will open July 15. There was lots of traffic yesterday, including two big groups of 8-10 rigs.

I can confirm. The gate west of Sheridan Hill was closed for seasonal purposes as of Monday.

Green Ridge. Trail length is about 14 miles. Total time spent driving at a steady pace, about 7 hours.
Entrance from the Poudre River side.

Trail is marked with either blue or orange markers.

Lots of puddles, some deep, some slimy, all must be driven except for the really bad ones.

    Laramie Lake

    Trail goes up from here.
