It delivered. It had been two years since I had been up it (forgot I skipped it last year), and the final long climb seems "looser" than I remembered. The short leg up after the last switchback is as rutted and washed out as I remember.

I'm slacking on my pictures, I haven't even looked at them yet cause work is kicking my ass this week. Hopefully I'll get some up later this week.

Took a drive up Rist Canyon Rd today. When I got to Stove Prairie Ranch I decided to take Old Flowers Rd over to Pingree Park Rd. Took Pingree to Buckhorn Rd back to town. Ran into a black bear crossing Buckhorn Rd. No pictures, he bolted as soon as I came around the bend.

Here's my pics from Red Cone/Radical Hill/Swan River/Georgia Pass. It was an awesome day with gorgeous views, and trails that will make your heart race. @mountainmonkey @JDM @Coop68 @CO MTN Steve

Radical hill isn't a super difficult climb, but it was one of the scariest trails I've been on from an off camber perspective.

    IMG_0155.jpg
    IMG_0159.jpg

Beginning of the steep one way downhill:
    IMG_0164.jpg

View of Webster pass which goes down to handcart gulch. We dropped down the opposite side to radical hill which is back off in the distance.
    IMG_0166.jpg

View zoomed in on Radical Hill, taken from the same spot as above:
    IMG_0173.jpg

From the middle of the one-way section, looking back up to the top ridge:

Looking down toward the split to Webster pass / handcart gulch (left) or radical hill / montezuna (right)

Looking back up from the bottom of the one-way section:
    IMG_0189.jpg

Intersection of radical hill to the left, or back to montezuma on the right.
    IMG_0190.jpg

    Starting up radical hill:
    IMG_0193.jpg
    Looking back at Red Cone:

    IMG_0194.jpg
And this is where it starts to get tricky, right before the switch backs...like every other sane, rational person, I did not take any pictures while I was white knuckled driving across the front of the mine scared of rolling down the hill:
    IMG_0196.jpg
    IMG_0198.jpg
Looking back at the first set of switchbacks with the off-camber section across the mine. It doesn't look bad, but I assure you it is. Almost to the top:

We had plenty of time and the weather was fine. Looking back I'm not sure why we decided not to do it?

I'm thinking a couple of folks had experienced enough that day. :) We passed by the start of SOB at about 1:55pm, so there was time.

It worked out OK for me, as my radius arm bushings at the front axle decided to die. They're the first polyurethane bushings I've run, so the sound of them failing was a bit different than the sound of rubber ones - threw me off for awhile. I think these lasted two years; I had two sets of rubber ones fail in only one year. I'm going to try a different design of rubber bushing this time and see how long they last. If they go fast, I'll go back to poly, but try a different one ("dynamic" versus the "soft" and they have slots in them to help survive the flexing).
