Wow, I knew they got a lot of snow this year, but figured it'd be open by now, or at least Cinnamon would be. Thanks for the info.

if there has ever been a year to work on the truck go somewhere else or just be lazy this is the year. there is so much snow up high and honestly all the damage is not even know yet due to the historic avalanche cycle this last march. we are just figuring it out. a lot of stuff my guess will be closed all summer long. I mean they Cottonwood pass is scheduled for an early August opening and its paved.

That's crazy. It will be nice not to be in extreme fire danger, seems like that's been the case for at least the last 5yrs. Thanks.

Hey. I am in Ouray/Montrose for the next 3 days. We had planned to drive Imogene Pass but it’s still closed. We are looking at doing Yankee Boy as we think it’s open but hearing mixed reports. Anyone been there this past week? Any other trail recommendations in this area? Thanks!

Crystal today, some huge slides from across the river packed the sides of the trail with debris, probably 4 really big ones. Lot of snow up there still, on top of the fresh foot or so.

seems like that area has slides every year causing issues.. with everyone else having issues, i'm sure it's a mess up there.

Yep, they must run a bulldozer through there to clear it, no way it was done with anything smaller. In case there was any doubt, the sign in crystal said Schofield and Lead King were still closed.

Definitely go early morning if you go. I went last September on my dirt bike and was surprised how many trucks/jeeps were on the route. If I weren't on a bike I definitely would have gotten annoyed with all the passing involved.

A friend hit me up last minute about running T33 plane crash on Saturday to break in her new 4runner. Despite the weather being 50 and rainy we ran into a lot of traffic on the trail. There were a large number of people in rental SXS bombing up and down the trail, bouncing over the rocks and a group of jeeps that apparently left a bunch of trash and beer cans at the plane crash parking lot. Given how busy it was I wouldn't run it on a sunny day, that's for sure.

We started on the Camp Dick side near where MSV trail starts

    Moose and its baby

Not even 5k miles and already on the trail lifting tires

The plane crash is neat and worth checking out. I'm amazed that there's still so much wreckage left behind that hasn't walked off with past visitors

Coming down was nice because there wasn't much left traffic since it was after 4 in the afternoon.

Gotta take a good poser pic

I'm overall very content with how the truck handles though lower gears are a must. On the road 5th is pretty much unusable although I did get about 17mpg (after correcting for tire size) driving to Boulder and back in 4th at 50-70mph. On the trail 1st and 4low is still too fast for my liking and I stalled the truck a few times braking while trying to control my descent down ledges

I also needt to add some more BBs to my tires; they balance out til about 50 then it's like riding in a paint shaker so the drive there and back sucked a bit.

After spending about 50 minutes waiting for my little Masterflow compressor to fill our tires I am eyeballing the ARB twin although the price stings

Been wanting to run that trail, sounds like it needs to be a weekday trail ride(@johntoyota) though.

That would be a good plan. There were dozens of rental SXS and ATVs on the north east end of Bunce School Road, I can only imagine how chaotic it would have been on a sunny weekend
