 You're missing the teaser photo.

Love the petroglyphs, and looks like a great trip!

Not so many as you might think after a while (which is just fine by me - I measure success by number of nights in the tent!). I think people just like not having to leave the comfort of their existing threads, so I might as well give them the story there.

I totally agree with you on measuring success by the number of nights in a tent and I did not do as well as I would have liked this year. Still got 20 plus nights this year but I normally get 30 plus. Also I like to give people a hard time and I surf a lot of threads without posting.

...Eventually, we found ourselves at the top of Cottonwood Peak. -ish. There are a couple caveats here worth mentioning. First, no road actually went to the top. Second, even the highest point of the road wasn't technically the top of the peak - it skirted along the southwest side by a few hundred feet - both horizontally and vertically.

And that was just fine with Brett - more than fine in fact! He jumped out of his truck and immediately challenged Monte to a race to the top. Of course, Monte being only slightly competitive meant that we really had to twist his arm to get him to accept the challenge.
Right. And on the count of three, they were off.

Find out who wins in Redhead Down #5: The Race

Anybody know when Rimrocker is typically open? Finally making an honest attempt at planning a long trip across UT next spring and would like to hit Rimrocker on the way there/back.

Slaughterhouse isn't so stock friendly anymore unless you take every single bypass. A lot of nasty ruts that @YamaDirtrider Even maxed out his 14's on

In late July, my alcoholism came to an end after I lost my job because of it. That's when I sought help...addicts usually refer to this as, "rock bottom". Since then, I've sought help through the VA for rehab and relapse prevention. Unfortunately, I realized that I was too damn busy drinking all summer to really go on any trips. So I decided to stuff as many as possible in September and October.

    9/28: Rollins Pass West

Treated to some nice fall colors.

Interestingly, the battery camera died shortly after the pic below. Left both other batteries in the truck and didn't think to bring my phone. Me and my buddy noticed an elk a few minutes later lingering down below. We quickly realized that it was a moose. One moose call later, and a mom and kid (mini-moose? mooselet?) come out of the trees. As we hiked back to the truck, they followed the river below in our direction. I like to think that they were hanging with us. One of those cool shared moments that I can't share on the 'gram.

    P9280698.jpg

A miserable-looking bikepacker went down right before the trestles just after I took this. He wisely decided to walk his bike to the pass.

    P9280700.jpg

The pass. Met a hiker doing the Continental Divide/Colorado Trail. He seemed happier than everyone else.

So easy, a marijuana-addled Subaru driver can do it! So many goddamn Subarus.

Not a lot of pictures...too much time spent dodging idiots. Better than sitting at home, though.

...As we all set about our normal evening activities - prepping our tents and getting the fire pit ready - Brett had something else in mind entirely. This was a site worthy of a custom bench. However, unlike many of the locations we'd been, there was relatively little beetle kill here, and so he headed off with his truck to find - and drag back - the trunk of a dead tree. And then, he set to work with the chainsaw.

I checked it out for the first time this year before the top was cleared of snow. Same experience... people everywhere. Unless there's some attraction on the other side of the Pass that I didn't get to see, I won't go back.

Well last night wasnt much of a slow crawl type night but I know he is loving them. Moab was a treat for him with the crawler.

We had already aired up on the way down and I thought it would be fun to try to drift around one of the turns going down. The traction gods had other ideas though. My front end let go and I slammed into the fence. I knocked the post out of the ground and the fence slid up on my hood. I think all the ice acted as a protective barrier though and I can only find one little scratch from it. About 1/2 mile down the trail however I noticed I had 3 pounds in my left front. Couldnt get it to reseat. We filled it up to about 45 to get to the gas station and by the time we got there I was at 11. After about 20 minutes of beating on it trying to get it to seat it got to where it wouldnt hold any air at all so I said ef it and threw the spare on. I am now in need of an alignment too.
