Anyone know if colored whips are legal or not legal? Ive heard both sides. Most just say it depends on what cop you get that day...

For on road, id say talk to the DMV. I would assume no red can be seen from the front and no blue.
For off road, id say verify with BLM. I believe it is no red or blue.
My google-fu is lacking tonight and I couldnt find any directly addressed sections for lighted whips/flags use on road.

Cool. I just got a 6 ft'er that is in red, white and blue. I didnt even think to check what colors may be legal or none legal. I may be going back and exchanging it for a solid white.

Pretty much. There are some things that can skirt the regs, but it isnt worth the trouble in my mind.

Why in the hell would you want to drive around town with that? Off road I see it as a safety aspect. On road I see it as douche baggery.

Even if not specifically banned by regulation, the CA cops will find a regulation to cite you because the lights are bright and can blind drivers - I've driven behind them in the dez. Thus, they are not illegal if they remain off on the streets.

Should put some on your truck. It'll be like mood lighting... but for 4wheeling.
