Would that we all had Aaron Rodgers (the best QB in football, if anyone happens to be playing the home game) riding the bench eh?

I think the reason the Colts aren't shitting bricks is because:

    1) Potential to draft Luck.
    2) They can basically hire Peyton as an OC.

i read your first sentence like 7 times and i just don't understand what you are trying to say

but yeah i agree on the second part. i mean Peyton already acts as an OC. he's (not my opinion, professionals' opinion) the best defensive reading qb in the nation. you can watch him on the field (well, could) he wouldn't just call plays; he would swap men around before the snap whenever he wanted without question (under dungee particularly). he knows how to protect himself and lead his team which is just as important as being a spot on qb, oh, which he is/was too.

Rodgers sat on the bench for what...3 years before Green Bay refused to let Favre start? Every team should have the kind of good fortune that allows you have Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers on the same roster.

Yeah, this is what most people don't get about the Brady - Manning comparison. Brady is a Hall of Fame quarterback, but Manning was playing QB and Offensive Coord. at the same time; also, the difference of the Colts with him and without him makes it obvious. He's arguably the biggest talent to come into the NFL in the past 20 years.

That said, watching Aaron Rodgers these days, he may be better than both Brady and Manning, at least on a pure playing-skill level. It's honestly very scary.

agreed. and sadly agreed on the last part. rogers is just so dynamic and consistent you can't see a reason why he won't be able to keep it up.

Bring forth Luck. He was unbelievable last night. Stanford should have left it in his hands and not run/kick.

We'll see what happens with Luck. Certainly seems like Indy's future QB, but you never know...plenty of top prospects that ended up busting hard (Ryan Leaf, anyone?)

I have no idea why Irsay fired the Polians. It's not like they did a bad job over the past 14 years for fuck's sake. They took Indy from a nobody to a perennial AFC power.

Yes, the team got crushed without Manning, but how is that different from teams like Minnesota or NY Jets, who have plenty of offensive talent but no QB? The simple fact of the modern NFL is it's a one-position game. If you have an above average quarterback, you can contend. If you don't, you won't. This is the side effect of changing league rules to promote passing offense.

Caldwell should stay. He's basically the second coming of Tony Dungy.

If I were the Colts, I would pass on Manning and just go ahead and get started with a rebuild, whether it's with Luck or someone else under center. Manning's not getting any younger, and his contract option and salary cap hit are huge. He's got 2 or 3 more years as a starter in the tank, max, the money is just better spent signing multiple talents in a youth movement.

That's not a knock on Manning - he should be a first ballot Hall of Famer as soon as he's eligible - it's just the math.

perfectly true, though i might contest you on the Dungy in the making. cause that man had his shit together. . . the polians firing was damn surprising to me as well. i mean, what exactly were THEY doing wrong this season? but im always that way in any sport when a GM gets the sack for simply a teams bad season. now when shady hiring and this and that are going on, yeah i understand. it's like the Colts board just got butt hurt and sacked them for kicks. . . . i wouldn't be surprised to see Caldwell get the sack though, kind of for the same random reasons. the question is though, who would they replace him with? its not like they would pick up any of the shitty coaches that have gotten the sack in the past week. i just don't know...

I doubt they'll get rid of Caldwell. There's no better option on the market right now (Jon Gruden, Tony Dungy, and Bill Cowher have all made it very clear they don't want to return to coaching right now), and there are a lot of desperate teams looking for coaches that will settle for a lot less than Jim Caldwell and would snap him up fast.

Sorry to be HONEST....BUT Colts do not get Luck.....he will refuse and play 2nd QB till his time is right.....

You folks can go back to being a basketball state.....Pacers with Bird pulling strings will get you an NBA title before you ever see another NFL one....

This will not take long to adjust too, just ask Cinnci' or Tampa ;)...
