    Welcome to my build. I would like to think of my truck as a "Hybrid" of the best Toyota truck and SUV parts from 96-05. There is really not much left of my original Tacoma, and I plan to swap out a lot more as I go. I have a lot of time, energy, money, and even a little blood invested in my truck. Its not perfect, and will always be a work in progress. Please feel free to post comments, or questions.

    My truck started life with a 3rz 4cyl and A340F auto, then I swapped in a W59 manual. Then in June 2013, I took all that out so I could start my v8 swap

    Manual version:
    Engine Start Date: 12-1-13
    First Drive Date : 12-21-13

    Automatic version:
    First start: 1-15-17
    First Drive: 2-4-17

    Now what I am sure some of you want to see-

    V8 swap.

    What I started with-

    If any of you plan to swap in a v8... get a donor vehicle... Save SOOOOO much time and money... I pretty much started with a block, intake, and exhaust manifilds. everything else I have bought...

    They didn't look like stock flares, I guess I could be wrong since I don't own a first gen.

    tips/tricks- buy a donor vehicle... I have spent SOOOO much time and money searching for all the small peaces, Throttle body, hardlines that bolt to the intake manifold, coils, nuts and botls... gahh.. so much time and money. There where so many things I was missing I cant even remeber now..

    I have another thread ---->

    This swap is not easy, and I would be lying if I told you I did it all myself. I have teamed up with a guy that has done a few swaps and is the smartest person I have ever delt with when it comes to wiring, and computer building. He has acted as a teacher, mentor, and a guide. Putting a 5 speed behind the 4.7 is expensive and there are a lot of issues that go along with the manual. The major thig is there was never a manual put behind any v8 Toyota released in North America. Since there is NO OBDII compliant ECU for the 2uz, you have to figure out a way to trick the computer into thinking that the auto transmission is inplace and working correctly. That, or deal with the CEL... which is a problem for me because my truck WILL pass inspection.

    Currently, I am waiting on my exhaust to get here, plus I am still working on wiring. I had hoped to have my truck running by now, but... Things are moving slow.
