I voted no. But tjat is aslong you did not hide from the deployment. It pisses me off to see people have to go all the time because other people manage to "get hurt" right before the are supposed to leave. All that does is screw your buddy but they don't care. I think people like that should get the boot. don't care how long they have been in. But if you just didn't get picked then it wasn't your fault you didn't go. I have a friend that volenteers everytime but his job is just not needed that much.

It's about the difference between the romanticism of combat and respect. Those are two different things, and civilians that have never served will never be able to distinguish the two like we can. I vote a big ass no.

Of course the exception are those that sought to avoid deployments.

I'm ashamed to say that I never served in the Military so maybe I shouldn't answer this question, but everytime I see a man or woman in uniform, I feel a huge sense of pride and respect for those people, whether they serve down the highway at Fallon NAS or are fighting terrorists in the Middle East. :proposetoast:

I've never been in combat because I work in a hospital but have been direct support and helped save many lives resulting from combat. Does it make me or any of the other members who work in the hospital a lesser person.? I have huge respect for those guys serving outside the wire and still feel proud I'm inside doing my part.

As far as the dodging deployments douchbags go. I wish there were a way we could weed those members out. I've seen it too many times and it pisses me off when someone will find any way they can not to deploy resulting in someone else sukin it up and going again. Do your dam job!

it is a strange question, im atc and i will get deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan or where ever.
thing is ill be in a tower with minimal threat. so i voted no because ill be able to say i deplyed but never was in "combat". my buddies that are in the army are over there for 12-18 months in the cities holding their carbine. those are the ones that can say they are the shit. not me. they could get shot just going on a tcn patrol.

to anyone that has served thank you for you service. take a brave person to say they will defend a nation that most of the time doesnt want to hear the real story. thank you.
