This summer I'll be doing weekend adventures around the midwest (Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Missouri and maybe more) so wanted to toss out the invite for anyone that would be interested in tagging along (anyone from first timers and beyond are welcome) at some point this summer.

I know there's a lot of people who want to get out and explore but don't necessarily want to head out alone. Whether you just got a new truck or have had one for a while and never gotten a chance to really use it. Even a stock vehicle is capable of a lot and there's no better way to improve your skills than to just get out there.

Currently on the list of possibilities
    Trans Wisconsin Adventure Trail
Minnesota Border to Border Touring Route
    TransAm Trail

    Currently researching
    Trans Missouri Trail
    Trans Iowa Trail

If you are interested in joining along or meeting up, let me know!

My truck for reference. I'm fairly close to stock.

I’m in MN I would be up for something in MN and always wanted to try the TWAT. The MN thread guys are pretty active. State Forests here are great and Gilbert OHV park is fantastic. I’ll watch the thread.

    Current tentative plans:

May 17-19: Missouri? @Cav_BluTRD you around?
May 24-27: TBD. Waiting on @Tigerian to figure out wtf he's doing that weekend
June 1/2 or 8/9: TWAT run from DBQ to Lansing, possibly beyond. Taking at least one newbie, maybe 2.

    17-19 is good for me
24-27 I have some family in town. Damn it.
June 1/2 or 8/9... 8/9 might be better. Take the weekend of 1/2 off.

Don't worry, he is obligated to come to Minnesota every once in a while. Once I get my truck camping situation handled I'm planning on doing the state park passport.

I thought we were playing with motorcycles that weekend.

Twat is a great run...I would start in the little town right before where you took the photo rather than Dubuque...it will cut about 2 hours of mostly road driving off the trip.

I’m up for some runs on any of those trails. Looking at your map of runs you’ve done...how do you get all the time? I would love to be able to do that much.

    that's a solid plan
We started about 12:30 this past weekend. If we started at like 9 and cut off some of the highway, you could get a pretty good chunk done. The bridge out in Lansing is kind of problematic because you either have to do the before section or the after section, or add in a 70 mile detour to get around.

Have you done the whole thing?

@Tigerian and I did this last year July 1-8. It was about 4800 miles in a weeks time. You can cover a lot of ground in a few days or a week if you try. The first and last day were long days (~1000 miles) so all the other days were 300-500 miles and left plenty of time for any stops we wanted to make and we usually made it to our destination by early evening.

    Screen Shot 2019-04-24 at 10.20.22 AM.jpg

I also try to take advantage of any of holidays (memorial day, labor day, July 4th, etc) to maximize my time off. Also things like leaving Friday after work and getting back home late Sunday or sometime Monday. I've got no issues doing 800-1000 mile days which can get me to Colorado, New Mexico, etc. Sometimes it makes for a long weekend but i'd much rather be doing that than sit and mindlessly watch TV or something.

A few times I've had to head somewhere for work so I drove out and made a couple stops along the way.

This is also why I've got 84,xxx on my truck that I've had for 2 years lol

I did do the whole thing. 2 1/2 days in total plus a stop at the Delta Diner. If I were to do it again I’d probably go for a full three days as the two days were pretty long.

Lol I went to the Omaha zoo once. When I was younger we went to the STL zoo nearly every week. Everything else I've been to is disappointing compared to STL

Same but NE, SD, ND and KS all kinda suck though. They just get in the way of more fun places
