imo it should be 3 lanes with no restrictions like in Germany outside of the populated areas, i mean it is relatively flat with no twisty hills
then you can make it across the state in 3 hours or maybe a bit more with an appropriate vehicle and skills

if there was no restrictions, there would be semis driving 60 across all 3 lanes.... they already do it across 2.

semi's would definitely have restrictions though and be strictly enforced if it were up to me, that 3rd lane would not have traffic going that slow
there are rules to this sort of 'no restrictions' and for safety must be adhered to
i am more concerned with the semi's thinking they can go over 80mph when they should be doing 65 with the weight they haul, don't they know the physics and they are like a little mini train sometimes!

Yeah no doubt. It’s like 500 miles of nothing. We always play the “look a cow” .... only thing we had seen for 80 miles! Lol. The end of Nebraska you see it changing with mounds and buttes.

You ever drive 4 hrs one way in whiteout conditions on a Sunday to buy new tires for the Tacoma? It’s normally 2hrs.53B5542E-9748-44A5-A6D9-483684D1EC05.jpg

people from AZ,TX,CA etc. have no clue what its like

i do have a tale about traveling from Oshkosh to Chicago for a weekend Marquette/DePaul game at the United Center 20yrs ago
the washer fluid was frozen in the company astro van and would not work with the artificial melting road spray.
had to 'borrow' a squeegee from some random gas station and pull over and clear the windows every so often
ended up having to park that Van in the Chevy dealer to thaw out the hoses and put in the proper fluid that the local JiffyLube put in diluted stuff before we left NE

this is why you never ever ever ever trust quick lube places. These are the same people that'll put 10w 40 into a Prius if that's what they have on hand

We also laugh once you get in Wyoming. The giant gates with flashers so they can shut down the highway. Those are tge days Wisconsin people drive up north to tge cabin to snowmobile. We would call in sick and drive to the nearest bar or drive to the sticks to
Ahh the good old days before the big east conf.
I think pre conference USA. They were independent in early 80’s and joined the Metro conference. Moved to conference USA and finally the Big East(lol)

Went to a ton of games at the Rosemont Horizon. Most of those were Pepperdine, ST. Johns, & Notre Dame @ DePaul.
Last years of Ray Meyer coaching!
Way more than than 20 yrs ago for me.

i was working in the St Louis area (1997) the year Conference USA had their tournament there and I witnessed Marquette win 4 games in 4 days! I don't believe any NCAA basketball team had ever done that to that point in time

i bet i can 'almost' top that pic
michigan mountain top, super big lake, those nice all season trees mixed in with those other trees turning color
too bad the fog was SO DENSE yesterday morning for the sunrise :(

i found a drive that can possibly top NE, the Dakotas on i29. I have not been on this stretch as far north as Grand Forks since 1990 and it was dark out that time iirc.
but I drove that 400 miles today south to Sioux City and there was one decent scenic hill in SD but that was about it other than the constant 20-30 mph wind, that was a real drag all day long!
