    Hi all,

I just picked up my new 2018 TRD ORDC. Put around 200 miles on it today driving from the dealership, out to my dads to pickup some furniture and back home.

I just wanted to say that anyone that complains at all about the Tacoma transmission, or how it drives etc should never get a Wrangler. I traded in my 2016 Wrangler and i feel like I’m driving a 120k Range Rover on the highway with the new Tacoma. It feels like a luxury liner to me.

I was worried about the ride and transmission after reading all the complaints from consumers and “experts”, but man I cannot beleive how good this thing drives. I guess it just depends what you’re used to but my only advice is anyone complaining about a Tacoma do not get a Jeep Wrangler.

I loved my Jeep (before it started falling a part with just 23k miles on it) don’t get me wrong. They’re fun as hell to wheel and take to the beach. But taking my 2 door on the highway was an adventure in itself. Having power doors and locks and a roof that doesn’t leak as me feeling like a million bucks.

I also switched from a Wrangler (Unlimited) and agree with the sentiment. This is much more comfortable. Both of mine had manual transmissions, so no woes there for either vehicle.

I used to have one as well and considered the new jku, glad I haven't. Jeeps nowadays are heavily becoming mommy mobiles and chick cars

I did the exact same thing in January 2017. No comparison. Owning a Jeep was one of the biggest mistakes I ever made! Nice color BTW!

Agree with the OP. Taco rides like a Lexus compared to my old JK Rubicon.

But still it's the only vehicle I regret trading in...I wish I'd kept her around just as a 2nd ride.

I test drove The 2018 Rubi unlimited. I wanted So bad to love that thing but I just Couldn’t. In the end I had to choose between the 4Runner and tacoma. Looking back I maybe should’ve gotten the 4runner but I truly Do love my truck. Had the 4Runner been available with the technology in the tacoma I would’ve gotten the 4Runner.

    Welcome.

I have had many Toyotas, tried the Jeep thing this last time before selling it and coming back.

Best move I ever did! Just wished I hadn't sank 8k in the Jeep to figure out I wanted my Tacoma back..

I rode shotgun in my friend's Wrangler a few years back on a road trip, 5 hours highway driving each way. Music? Conversation? Nah, too loud for that stuff.

For real. Mine was in the shop constantly. Coming from an FJ Cruiser (from 2008-2016) I only last 2 years in the Jeep.

Same situation. Test drove multiple 4runners and Tacoma’s. It feels like the 4runners are just built a little bit better but i decided the small bed would be more beneficial to me and my family over the extra cargo room. I don’t think you can go wrong with either.

I think if the wrangler can be your weekend and Trail vehicle it’s perfect. DD it gets old though once the novelty wears off.

the Tacomas are a little TOO refined...if im honest.

yes my ass appreciates it when im driving 600 miles a week......and so does my spine when it doesnt shatter going over speed bumps......but i kind of wish my truck felt a little more like a truck.

Guys, doh! You're not supposed to daily drive a wrangler unless it's to hog around on a farm.

Totally different vehicles. Both kick ass in their own right!
